Rick states that while the story will most likely follow the events of the book. Some things were changed for the better for the plot to run better since he plans for them to cover at least all of series 1. Which was 5 books long.

2024-01-13 21:45:11 +0000 UTCIn the original story, Percy doesn't realize his mom is alive till much later. In the book when the whole camp and him discover he is a forbidden child. Chiron says he needs to go on the quest to bring peace back. Mr. D. doesn't even want Percy to go on the quest, or even to stay at camp in Mr. D.'s eyes he is too much trouble to keep around. He tells Percy that he'll turn him into a dolphin and send him to Posidon and that it would be a better fate for Percy. Because he believes that if Percy goes on the quest he won't make it alive. Because everything would be after him. The Olympians, Zeus sends, and the monsters. Interestingly, they changed it to Mr. D. trying to force the quest along with Chiron and then have Sally be Percy's motivation.

2024-01-13 05:15:09 +0000 UTCOne thing they haven't gone into, in terms of the ADHD + dyslexia combo = demigod, is that it's explained in the books that their demigodhood sort of manifests as ADHD and dyslexia by human world standards -- the hyperactivity is battle reflexes, the dyslexia is because their brains are so hard-wired for Ancient Greek they struggle to read any other language. Rick Riordan wrote the books for his son, who had both of these diagnoses, because Riordan wanted him to feel better about his differences. So it really isn't just "seeing the world differently", it's a specific way Greek demigods process things in this universe.
