It's probably not important three weeks after you have done this reaction and also the actors themselves pronounce their characters names in the English way when they speak English but technically Wilhelm name is (mostly) pronounced Vill-um or his nickname (Wille) pronounced Vill-uh. And Simon's name is pronounced See-mun (or nickname See-mee). Also a major plot point is that Simon has little use for the upper class, early on, and even takes a shot at Wille in class which I think you missed. All the more surprising when he finds Wille is a good guy and starts having feelings for him.
