There's a continuity error in this episode that I can't unsee ever since I noticed it years ago: When Phoebe gets out of Piper's car and is running toward Miles, you can see her running in her Ugg boots.

My theory of this episode is that future Cole teamed up with the Charmed Ones to rule the underworld for good, and that the reason the warlock's spells are so unusually successful is they were created with the power of three and the Book of Shadows. Another idea is that they worked because only Cole has ever been that powerful, because no other demons have ever had a soul and so been able to pick up powers in the wasteland. It might have been a better move for Piper to show her unhurt arm to her past self, then pinch her and have her watch the bruise appear. When you talked about Piper witnessing two of her sisters die, it reminded me that she, unlike Phoebe, witnessed Prue die. Quite the trauma to re-experience. Full death count (not counting almost-deaths) is now up to: Prue 2 (stabbed by dragon, killed by Shax), Piper 3 (killed by Rodriguez, impaled by Prue, shot by Alice), Phoebe 3 (killed by Rodriguez twice, this), Paige 1 (this).
