The teacher/coach was an asshole - most people were glad to see him go. Damon still being an ass also, but we did get a bit of backstory on why he and Stefan are at odds.

2023-07-19 19:21:27 +0000 UTCSo, in that scene where Elena has a nightmare that Stefan turns into Damon while they're together, they show the crow in the windowsill to indicate that Damon's there. Damon made Elena have that dream, that's why he knew she "dreamed about him" when he was taunting her later. So it says nothing about her character.
