"Poor Adam".... lolol You have no idea. Death does love his junk food. He's great. Death doesn't take into account (or maybe he did) that Dean is human and has a soul and a conscious. While Death has no soul, so he isn't affected by things like children needing to die. However, I love him and Julian Richlings. I agree with @Sare. The first time I watched S6 - even as a binge - it didn't strike me in a good place. However, on rewatch knowing how it all converges together, it really is a smart season.

Yeah I just saw that comment of this soul debacle needing to end early due to backlash but even then, it feels like midway into the season, Sam gets his soul back, it doesn’t feel rush especially with the added risk.

Oh damn, it got that bad? I mean I do love the exploration. It pains me not seeing the Sam of old but this situation is intriguing and I think the pay off of no soul returning to Sam would suck

This is a great episode for both Dean and Sam's parts. It’s so true that Dean is always going to pick Sam. Adam, you got a raw deal. I totally agree with Liam that this episode really does hammer home why Sam needs his soul back because he is pretty terrifying and ruthless especially when he feels threatened, but even if he wasn’t so dangerous, I think Dean would go through the exact same thing just to get "his" Sam back. Also, Dean and Death are always a compelling pairing to watch, too. I have no idea if they cut down on the amount of time with Soulless Sam this season because I wasn’t watching live, but it feels like he was pretty fleshed out to me. I think Jared does an awesome job playing this version of Sam, but if I was watching this season live, I would be getting impatient to have "real" Sam back at this point. For Soulless Sam, and other things yet to come, I think Season 6 really improves on a rewatch and it’s definitely in my preferred half of seasons of the show.

This episode always hits so hard

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, the "Soulless Sam" storyline was ended earlier than expected because of severe fan backlash at the time. Fans were just not feeling Sam without a soul. I didn't hate it, but I'm kind of glad it ended it when it did.
