While it’s true that not everything can or should be solved by bloodshed, sometimes it’s what needs to be done. If Belach didn’t come to. If they couldn’t get through to him… what excuse could they make then? They’d have to kill him. They’d have to do what Gabrielle originally suggested anyway. Maybe Gabrielle was a little too quick to suggest it but she wasn’t wrong to. She did understand the gravity of the situation and I really don’t like how they basically imply that Gabrielle is just “kill ‘em all’ now. She isn’t. I just don’t like how this episode is written at all in all honesty. Worst episode of Season 6.

Gabrielle being the one to say “kill him” and Xena just ignoring her as if she doesn’t realize the enormity of what she’s suggesting. She knows. She understands. She’s saying it because it’s the truth. He should die. Making it seem like Xena was more morally justified because she refused to kill him out of “family values”. It may be a contradiction for Gabrielle to suggest and advocate for the killing of Belach but it’s not illogical. And it’s not out of character given what Gabrielle has gone through. Why do they write this episode like this? I don’t understand. They make Belach see the light and make Gabrielle feel conflicted for suggesting something that made all the sense in the world given what he had done. It’s ridiculous. An insult.

It's just unfortunate that these friends of the show had to be associated with such a dud of an episode. Xena has executed many people for far less than genocide but this guy gets a free pass for no reason.
