In my top 5 in season 2 for a few reasons. Darrel gets more knowledge, Prue learns a lesson or two, Dan gets to shine for the first time and The Cranberries... Mostly The Cranberries. RIP Dolores O'Riordan (1971-2018).

2022-11-17 00:52:27 +0000 UTCAs a person with a history of gender identity issues I was very uncomfortable with this episode for many years, particularly with the stereotyping. However the worst part is the ogling of the woman in the bar and its implications re orientation. Perhaps the more realistic school of thought is that Prue's orientation should not be affected by being placed into what is effectively a pre-op trans body. However, this is a show about magic and it could be argued that she's been temporarily forced into someone else's body, regeneration style, maybe including someone else's brain, which has orientation towards the female. Like she's seeing through a (specific) man's eyes instead of actually becoming a man herself (the chant at the end to convince her to overcome the succubus reinforces this idea). All in all very much a 20th century episode, which is what makes it one of the season's weakest alongside the episode before it. I do also really love the song at the end though. They've been through so much it's nice for them to have a moment to enjoy life.

2022-11-16 07:00:24 +0000 UTCYeah this is pretty dated, especially with the gender stereotypes. It's usually a skip episode on rewatches for me. And I've wondered how the transgender community would feel about this ep? I don't think they pushed too far with everything in this one but yeah this one didn't really age well. One of the weakest of the series for me. there's a few duds this season, as there is with all shows but there's so many amazing eps this season too. I do love the ending though where all the sisters are just cute and happy dancing, nice to have a happy ending lol. Are we getting another ep tomorrow right? Its still crazy for me that you're reacting to charmed even though you're already on s2 haha, just waited so long to see you react to my fave show and I'm glad you love it π₯°
