“There’s something more”. Nah, there isn’t. Gabrielle isn’t interested in Joxer as a romantic partner because she has Xena but she’s also not used to Joxer showing his affections to any other woman. It’s very much a “You’re attractive because I can’t have you.” scenario. It’s wrong, but see it from her perspective. She’s so familiar with Joxer pining for her that she’s feeling that their friendship will suffer for it if he doesn’t continue to. That’s all it is.

Cliche reason for them to have music and be singing, covers instead of original songs, and zany theatrics that have absolutely nothing to do with the plot. It’s not groundbreaking like ‘The Bitter Suite’. It’s just a bit of fun for the cast.

Since Xena really did innovate the musical episode, and it caught on quickly, why not go ahead and do it again? Of course, this one was all light hearted fun and instead of original songs, a slew of pop hits is employed. "Dancing in the Moonlight" is one of my favorites, as is Draco's heavy metal heroics on "Always Something There To Remind Me". ... Jace, Joxer's other brother with, perhaps, an unorthodox sexuality, was mentioned back in the episode where we met Jett. Finally that pays off here. ... Go-go dancing Gabby looked hot, but did you note a very obviously pregnant Lucy Lawless wearing the same outfit at the end of the little video that played over the end credits? ... Nowhere the heavy drama of the first musical, and not intending to be, this one was just pure zany fun whilst while revisiting the first episode.
