Relax! This isn't a vile "Poundcake" post, though Reds players and fans may view it differently.
Last night after dinner, Kait and I decided to watch a movie she'd had on her Kanopy watchlist for a while: Long Weekend, a rather intense, fairly unpredictable 1978 Australian thriller. Before we hit play, I figured I'd hit the bathroom so as to lessen the probability of needing to hit pause during the viewing. En route to said restroom, I read a post from the folks over at Bleacher Nation that read: "Cubs down 4. Bases loaded for Kyle Tucker. I'd, uh, call this a big moment in the game."
It was. Tucker pulled a 2-run single to right to cut down the Reds lead to 6-4. Seiya singled to left to load the bases. And then you won't believe what PCA did.
Or maybe you should at this point. He had hit a 2-run homer earlier in the game, so why wouldn't he just hit another one? Maybe this time make it a grand slam? Oh. He did. He hit the ball, watched it, and watched it, and watched it...and it bounced off the right field foul pole. Fair ball. Cubs suddenly up 8-6. Good Lord.
Bathroom break over. Long Weekend watched. Cubs tacked on more runs and won comfortably 13-6. This damn team. Some major Gerberlytics coming after Monday's game, when they'll have played exactly one-third of the season. Keep going...
