Missed much of this victory due to a recording for Halloweenies (Phavorite Phantom Philms), but watched it while Kait and I each painted a stepping stone (picture above). You know, just your normal Monday night.
It was not a normal Monday night for the visiting Giants. One of the best defensive teams in baseball had arguably their worst outing this season at Wrigley, and I turned it on at what may have been the most pivotal point in the game.
In the bottom of the 6th with no outs and Cubs on first and second, a routine groundout and potential double play was botched thanks to a bad throw from Giants SS Willy Adames. Now there were runners of second and third with no outs and the Cubs took advantage. They’d score four more runs that inning en route to a 9-2 series opener against the Giants.
Even better: Counsell informed the press that Shota’s injury is “mild”, so he’ll hopefully just miss a few starts as precaution.
Even better than that: I didn’t watch PCA’s at bat with the TV on and he struck out. Time to start watching his at bats again. Jinx over. I am insane.
