Faithful, Too: “Game 8 - What the Tuck?”

Interesting experience last night with this one. Watched the first seven innings on mute and in the background while I caught up with m’lady about life and liberty and what not. I looked up to see Tucker hit a home run, thinking it was a replay from last night, and, no, it’s another home run. Fourth straight game with a homer for the first time in his career. There’s going to be so much noise around him throughout the season that if the Ricketts don’t back up a Brinks truck and let him walk, there will be a social media riot.

Tough start to Steele’s start, but he ended up pitching an efficient 6 2/3 innings on only 78 pitches. Some cuts looked nasty. Wasn’t taking a lot of time between pitches (and that’s with the pitch clock). Looked confident after his first two shaky starts. Pressly picked up another save and only gave up one hit. I’ll take the small wins inside proper ones. More importantly, Merryweather and Hodge have combined for 6 1/3 innings pitched through the first eight games and have given up a grand total of zero runs with four holds between them.

Cubs clinch a series win and go for a proper sweep tonight, which would almost make up for that gag job on Sunday (in which neither Merryweather or Hodge pitched).

Let’s go

East and west too dominant. Will be shocked if two central teams get in. - JG

Overreactions on 4/2 - could the Braves suck, opening the door for 2 NL Central teams in the bloated playoffs?
