Was prepared to just chat about how good Dansby was last night with his four RBI’s. How good the offense was yet again (10-6 victory). How the last three times over the past 18 seasons (Gerberlytics alert) the Cubs have started at least 9-5 they went on to win their division (and in one case the World Series). Then news arrived that Justin Steele has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with elbow tendinitis.
He’s had this before, even missing a couple of starts last year. It just slightly deflates what’s been a great start for the team. Steele was coming off what was easily his best start, too. With a couple days off for the team over the next week or so he’ll hopefully just miss one start with the Cubs having to find someone to fill in. Hopefully Shota, Boyd, and Jamo can continue their effectiveness and either Brown or some other fifth starter can perform at a higher level.
Getaway game today with the aforementioned Shota starting. Chilly overcast day outside. Would love to sweep the Pads but, again, at least they’ve won yet another series. That damned Dodgers set appears to be an anomaly. Let’s hope Steele’s injury doesn’t shake the team as much as it’s shaking me.
