Faithful, Too: “Game 5 W”

A note on names of things for things: “Faithful, Too” is obviously a play on being associated in its own way (unofficially, of course) with O’Nan and King’s Faithful, but do you know what the true source of inspiration is? You guessed it: Teen Wolf, Too starring a young Jason Bateman as the boxing cousin of Michael J. Fox’s O.G. Why The Godfather Part II didn’t just go with the “too” will forever baffle me. It would have worked.

Was in the beautiful mountains of western Carolina yesterday while visiting friends for the weekend, but managed to catch the final inning of last night’s game, and what an ending it was. Bottom of the ninth. Cubs leading by a run. The Diamondbacks had two on, two out. Soft bouncer to shortstop Dansby Swanson who can’t make a play at first…but Diamondback Garrett Hampson had overrun third base! Swanson ran towards him, Hampson tried to evade but failed, Swanson tagged him, pumped his fist in elation and the Cubs won.

Shota pitched awesome, going 7 innings before Hodge popped in again to hold the 8th while Pressly (luckily) earned his first save as a Cub in the 9th. Offensively, newly acquired stud King Tuck hit his first homer as a Cub and touted rookie Shaw hit his first homer period. The Cubs have guaranteed a split in the series with an outright win today in play. Here’s to road victories and big home runs…too.
