Faithful, Too: “Game 7 - The Carson Kelly Game”

Nothing more satisfying than drubbing a new opponent a day after choking away a game. 21 hits and 10 walks led to an 18-3 cakewalk victory over the homeless A’s (promise this will get explained). Another insane offensive effort by Tuck Temporary (no way the cheap Cub owners sign him this offseason) was only outshone by the Cubs backup catcher.

For the first time since Mark Grace in 1993 (who led all of Major League Baseball in hits in the 1990’s, had no steroid allegations, but is somehow not in the Hall of Fame), Carson Kelly hit for the cycle. For the unfamiliar, the cycle is when a player hits at least one of the following in one game: a single, a double, a triple, and a home run. It’s very, very rare. The Cubs have done it 12 times…in 150 seasons!

Other random stats from the victory: 8 of the 9 Cubs starters reached base at least three times. The “worst” performance was from Happ, who did manage to get on base twice and score a run.

Let’s clinch a road series win tomorrow. Let’s keep this going!
