Stephen King Archives Vol. 15: Uncollected Stories Vol. 1

Constant Listeners, there is an archives to the Derry Private Library. Thanks to our Losers' Club historian Bryant Burnette, we have unearthed an entire vault of Stephen King material. From unpublished short stories to long-forgotten interviews, dusty manuscripts to alternate versions of your favorite tales, there is much to discuss...

Today, Randall, Jenn, and Michael gather around the fire and sort through some of Stephen King's uncollected works. Titles include: "The 43rd Dream", "Code Name Mousetrap", "Skybar", "The Leprechaun", "For the Birds", "Keyholes", "The Furnace", and "The Music Room".

Read the accompanying stories and listen ahead as the Losers dissect each one. Some are short, some are unfinished even, but the last one is a keeper.

Thank you so much for including the stories!

I remember King mentioning in an interview recently that “The Music Room” will be included in either the trade or mass market paperback editions

The 43rd Dream seems to be riffing on Bob Dylan's 115th Dream, from the album Bringing It All Back Home. No direct copying, but a lot of similar phrases. King: "I told him I was the editor of a Strunk & White Cookbook." Dylan: "I told them I was the editor of a famous etiquette book." King: "When along came this chick--Brigette Bardot from France." Dylan: "They threw me in the alley, when up comes this girl from France." King mentions Captain Bligh, Dylan mentions Captain Kidd. I feel like King was using the Dylan song as a starting point or framework for his own surreal fantasy. Here's a link to Dylan's lyrics: https://www.bobdylan.com/songs/bob-dylans-115th-dream/

Thank Bryant!

Terrific episode, y'all! I agree, Mike (obviously): it's a detriment to the book that "The Music Room" wasn't included in "You Like It Darker." On the plus side, though, there are still enough quality uncollected stories out there that a whole-ass collection could be made just from those. A pretty good one, too.

Exciting! Thanks for the PDFs!
