From unpublished short stories to long-forgotten interviews, dusty manuscripts to alternate versions of your favorite tales, there is much to discuss...
If you recall, last year we began discussing Stephen King's EW column, The Pop of King, for its 20th anniversary. You'll also recall that we were initially going to discuss the column in one fell swoop as part of The Stephen King Archives as we're wont to do here in this Club.
Bad idea jeans, we realized, and so we opted to spread it out a bit. So, if you're just starting, be sure to revisit the first two volumes which cover all the columns from 2003 to 2005. Today, Superman returns but so does Stephen King as we dive into the year 2006.
In this episode, Randall Colburn, Dan Caffrey, and Dan Pfleegor revisit King's words on United 93, golf, Britney Spears, alt-country, The Wire (and how it’s aged), The Fray, Cormac McCarthy, and, of course, Lost.

Been listening to you guys for years, first time I’ve ever felt the need to comment- while I’m generally a Caff, Justin, Jen and Rachel guy in terms of opinion alignment (apart from Jen’s weird Malachai obsession), Randall’s comments on art during the United 93 section were so fucking spot on it should be taught in school. That whole 20 minute discourse was riveting and, as someone who thinks the Marvel phenomenon happened as a result of 9/11, so aligned with my own map of pop culture’s geometry it almost hurt. Love you guys, always look forward to your thoughts on anything. Additionally, don’t worry about running out of King content, I’m happy just listening to all you just shoot the shit. A final note, Mel is the queen!

2024-10-30 11:40:47 +0000 UTCI definitely advocate being skeptical of King's movie/tv recommendations, BUT, that said, I need to speak up in defense of "Veronica Mars," which was an excellent series. It's no "Sopranos," granted, but it's well worth seeing.
