Hello Patrons!
As BaggyG alluded to yesterday in the very exciting Quake 4 update, here's another update for you for JKQuest, this update brings a number of changes, the most notable of which is controlling the AT-ST in the Yavin Canyon level. A section of the game that definitely needed some attention, and I am glad to say now works pretty nicely I think.
Now you control the AT-ST in a semi first-person way, with the view located between the AT-ST's legs (lol), I tried a few locations for the view and all the others (above, in-the-cabin) all had issues with views being obscured by the model or making aiming very difficult. These old engines weren't written with the concept of camera parenting in mind, so in the end the best compromise was the place the view below the AT-ST and have it walking just over you. Aiming is done with the dominant hand controller and you can swap between the two weapon configurations (Main or Side Canons) using the weapon selector like you do when you are in Kyle form. The side canons have primary and secondary fire.
Other changes in this release are a _lot_ of work around the immersive cutscenes. Panning of the camera has been removed completely which should make many of them a lot more comfortable to view in immersive mode. The camera still gets moved around, so it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but most of them are pretty comfortable, you just have to follow the action with your own head now.
Warning: The Nar Shadaa Streets intro cutscene is still a bit of a rollercoaster!
We hope the above will give you something to do whilst you await your imminent stroggification in the (hopefully) not too distant future!

Installation on the Pico 4
Ensure developer mode is enabled on the pico: https://www.picoxr.com/us/faq_details.html?faq=dev
To install, download the APK on this post to your computer. Connect the Pico4 via USB and open SideQuest (Advanced Installer). Drag the APK onto Sidequest whilst in the Tasks menu (or select the APK from within Sidequest).
JKQuest should appear in the "unknown" tab on the left hand side of your Pico app library.
Run the app once on the Pico 4 and it will create the necessary folders. You then need to copy the full game PK3 files from your PC install (assets0.pk3, assets1.pk3, assets2.pk3, assets5.pk3) to:
/JKQuest/JK2/base on your Pico 4.
Installation on the Quest
This article is extremely helpful regarding the process of enabling developer mode on your Quest:
https://uploadvr.com/sideloading-quest-how-to/
and this is a very detailed and helpful video which should walk you through the entire process of installation and get you up and running:

(only one small note is you don't have to be connected via link. Just being connected via USB is enough).
