Jessica’s reasons for not killing Kilgrave are clear she explained them over and over. The fact that you disagree and would have let Hope (the name is not incidental) rot in prison doesn’t make her stupid. She really couldn’t anticipate the invasion of the apartment by the ex kilgraved group and even if she didn’t let Malcom in they could have broken the door. What Malcolm could have done is call Jessica to give her the head’s up. Yes Jerry is bitch. No doubt about it.
