These early seasons of Smallville are so good. The relationship are all interesting, Clark/his parents, Clark/Lana, Clark/Chloe, and especially Clark/Lex. The show can be kinda cheesy/corny at times but I think in a fun kinda way most of the times. And you have to remember that at the time, there really wasn’t any superhero shows or movies like we have today. Smallville, really kind of kicked off everything that we see now with Arrrow, Flash, Supergirl, etc. I also think this is the best Superman story. Even better than any of the movies. Michael Rosenbaum is by far my favorite Lex Luther. I’d love to see a modern continuation of this story with these actors playing the full fledged comic versions of these characters.

Regarding your question of if this show got people into Superman: I've always been a hug Batman fan and had always kinda looked down on Superman, until I watched this show. This show made me appreciated Superman because it understands a key concept that I feel the most recent round of DC movies missed: The real hero isn't Superman. Superman is an ideal and a concept. Superman isn't a hero because he has powers or is an alien. Superman is a hero because he's Clark Kent and Clark Kent is a good person. He's the real hero.

Its fascinating because, without giving to much away, you will not be disappointed with how it plays out, and it's a really interesting debate that rages in the fan community of this show of when the turn happened, and when it happened for each of their respective characters because its not necessarily at the same time.

2020-09-29 21:08:02 +0000 UTCRegarding the Superman, for me, Smallville it's the only comic, movie or tv show of Superman I have ever watched. Everything I know about it I know it from this show, so you are definitely not the only one. After watching this, the characters i love so much will always have the faces and mannerisms of these actors, and I honestly don't want to change that. Probably why I don't like Marvel or other multiverse concepts with different supermans, batmans, and other superheroes. It really cheapens my experience. Like for example, if you cannot come up with something original you just make a new story about the same person. I know that's what Smallville did as well but at least they were unique in many many ways.

2020-09-29 15:49:59 +0000 UTCActually it's pretty easy to understand once you watched the series. It's not a spoiler but it's safe to assume that humans with power have something to do with Kripton and Kriptonite (Meteor Rock).

2020-09-29 15:45:58 +0000 UTCYou touched on something I liked Steven, I also liked how they didn't have to explain his powers. It's safe to assume he got his powers like everyone else and tbh, it doesn't matter because that's not the core of the story. Like you said, we need to put these thoughts out there in the universe so why not a gimmick episode with a kid who has plot specific powers? I love it. Some may call it cheesy but I think it's a homage to a comic book story like he was reading in-universe.
