Dawn having a crush on Spike isn't too weird. I had a crush on Spike and Angel when I was 14/15!! I had posters of them on my wall lol

I would love a live Q&A once a week or even once a month. That way we could have discussions about the show, and maybe change your mind about some things that happen:)

On the live Q&A you were mentioning in the beginning, there is an category named "Just Chatting" on Twitch.

Spike thinks Buffy's into him because his approach to/understanding of love is sadomasochistic. That's why he's into Buffy in the first place: he can't kill her, so he turns her defeat of him into a sadomasochistic fantasy, in which he's sometimes a sadist (wanting her dead, wanting to harm her) and sometimes a masochist (getting off on desiring someone who has power over him, who he can't win against). Buffy's disdain for him and violence against him just turns him on and makes him feel like she desires him in return, because he sees desire as interwoven with violence. The Quasimodo comment in this ep is poignant and shouldn't be forgotten. Like Quasimodo, Spike's "good" acts are all selfishly motivated by his desire for Buffy - that was the show reminding us of who Spike is, despite him sometimes being sweet and good. Viewers are easily seduced by such an entertaining, funny character doing nice and sweet things, and it's natural to want your fave characters to be together. Spike is one of my alltime faves and I love this story-line. But he's still an evil vampire. Ofc Buffy doesn't reciprocate.

I like the episode but hate the direction they take with Spike

Steven you keep spoiling it for yourself 😂 most reactors don’t look at/read the ‘guest star’ section at the bottom of the screen, train your eyes up till it’s gone 🙄😂😂

CeNedra

I miss season 2 Spike, I would rather they had killed him off than turned him into this whiney mopey thing. First mistake was the chip, second was him obsessing over Buffy, his character isn’t even humerus anymore smh .. don’t all moan at me 😂😂 I know my opinion is not a popular one 😱🤣🤣🤣

This image is currently making the rounds, even though the tweet is from 2019, but I'm loving it: https://64.media.tumblr.com/de7384f018148e762e6d187970e58149/0e51be342309ca6c-ae/s540x810/618e40edf2fd76742a14968898efc5cf3b13687e.jpg

DJ Doena

Yeah he said it in a recent interview with Michael Rosenbaum on the latter one's podcast "Inside of You". Rosenbaum and Marsters know each other from the set of Smallville where Marsters turned up eventually when Clark Kent started to go to college. Here's the interview on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj19YNIu1Mw He's starting to speak abou Buffy at the 37 minute mark and the point about Joss being mad at Spike being popular at 43:30.

DJ Doena

I remembered that Google is a thing..... he told James this: 'I don't care how popular you are, kid, you're dead. You hear me? Dead. Dead!' I (James) was just like, 'Uh, you know, it's your football, man. OK.'"

SweetSummit

Yeah, I think Dru sums it up best (in what's one of my favorite lines ever) when Buffy tells Spike vampires can't love without a soul and she says, "oh, we can, you know. We can love quite well, if not wisely." Same as humans, tbh.

Bixgirl1

Yeah it was literally "f**k you James Marsters, this is my show, I don't care if people love you, I'm going to write you however I feel like." And while I'm paraphrasing, I'm 99% certain that Joss did actually say something like that to him at some point, I think James said it in a podcast.

SweetSummit

True but if he’d done it from the start instead of fighting then he could have pulled it off. Cause who could stay mad about not being pulled into a hell dimension. They couldn’t have all wanted to go to some hellish dimension. But that would make sense.

Valencia Lanier

Spike was in an interesting spot. He was originally supposed to be dead, but fans loved him so they didn't kill him off. Joss didn't want "good" vampires, except Angel. This left him in kind of a narrative limbo for a lot of the episodes, where he is around, but not for any good reason. I like him so I don't mind, but yeah.

WB

From a storyline point of view they'd already shown as far back as season 3 that the vamps that used to fight for him were pissed at him for turning on Angelus, and going forward once he started fighting demons for kicks he became pretty much hated in the 'demon underworld'. He might be a legendary vampire as far as vamps are concerned, and he's certainly no good guy, but nobody's going to follow someone who kills his own kind just because they're the only ones he can hurt. I do agree with you and Steven though, it would have been cool if he'd departed for a bit and went to help torture Angel for a bit.

SweetSummit

I don’t know why Spike didn’t just get all the vamps and demons together to be Master of Sunnydale. He can’t hurt humans but he can fight demons. That’s why I don’t like how they disregard him because of the chip. If he really wanted the Scoobies dead, he could have been got a vamp/demon crew together. He’s still a Master vampire. I wish he had went with Drusilla. I don’t like what they’ve done with Spike. What’s the point of this chip and having him around if they weren’t going to phase him into being a genuine part of the crew?

Valencia Lanier

Yup and she also hates that Spike even could love her without one. It says something about her relationship with Angel. Cause his demon hates her. And even with the soul his demon never went away so a part of him would always hate her. Buffy lied when she said Spike couldn’t love without a soul or she wouldn’t have used sick Dru as a way to keep Spike from killing all those people who glorified vampires back when her friend Ford showed up.

Valencia Lanier

I think Buffy doesn't believe that vampires can love without a soul because Angel didn't love her without his.

Corey

He's a vamp without a soul, are you surprised? Spike's a saint in comparison to Angelus 😂

Idun V

Druscilla snapped the girls neck, so the girl was dead. Spike would have had if he tried to hurt a living human

God Spike is disgusting

homoerotic 80s volleyball scene personified

My concern about you doing another type of content is that you're hit or miss on delivering the two weekly buffyverse episodes as it is. On the one hand, a regular live session sounds cool but on the other, if you have the extra time then maybe it would be better spent on making sure you're delivering your existing stuff.
