Every time you called Dawn ‘Hope’ I grinned, couldn’t wait for you to realise your mistake but when you said some people got mad at you for it 😱😱 wow really?? We each had our own theories when we first watched season 5 as this was the season where, in my opinion, everything changed. The fun thing is trying to work it all out. If, 20 years ago we voiced what we thought each episode, no one would have guessed it right. Luckily for us we can now deny how wrong we were but you brave people who genuinely react to these shows don’t have that luxury. I enjoy watching all the different conclusions you come to, I’d never get angry! If you get angry at people when they make mistakes and don’t understand yet where the plot is heading then how do you enjoy watching reactions? And why do you watch them? Does making someone feel bad make you feel good? What does that say about you? My mum used to say ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all’ an old saying but one I wish more people would live by. Steven, I love your reactions as they are genuine, keep being you ❤️😘

2020-08-26 05:40:32 +0000 UTCI think Riley calling the Initiative was his way of feeling like he was in control of the situation. Something he hasn't felt in a long time, especially being the boyfriend of the Slayer. He also probably knew that if he warned or checked with Buffy first that she wouldn't want the Initiative/Military involved at all. He wanted to save the day or at least play a part in it. Subconsciously he may have even neglected to tell Buffy because she had not communicated with him about anything lately. She never told him about her mom's condition, he had to hear it from Spike of all people. Basically he was being a guy lol.

Yep it’s the tumor messing with Joyce’s brain that is making her crazy enough to notice something is different with Dawn. Also, why didn’t Riley just tell the gang that he called in the Initiative? After what happened before they should know if that group is running around town. Matter of fact Riley should have called Buffy to not only tell her a monster was there to hurt Joyce but also shouldn’t have busted into her house like that. They swarmed her house and Buffy could have hurt someone thinking who knows what was happening.

I always enjoy them whether share I your opinions on the episodes or not, so I hope you just keep doing what you're doing! :) As for the episode, I've always considered this not just the low point of the season, but one of the low points of the series. IDK, much like the whole Initiative storyline, I just find aliens to not be a very good fit for the show (yeah yeah, I know it was "summoned," but for all intents and purposes, it's an alien). Anytime this show goes too far into "X-Files" territory (a show which I also love, for the record) it feels awkward and tends to lose me. Plus, that creature design was more "hilarious" than "creepy" to me, much like the snake in the last ep. Two goofy monsters in a row! That said, my dislike for this episode is so strong that I haven't included it in any rewatches I've done, so this was my first time watching it in years, and...it wasn't as bad as I'd remembered. I mean, I still completely hate the alien part, but the Joyce stuff was solid. I had completely forgotten about Buffy's breakdown in this ep, which was great. But you are definitely more into the Riley storyline than I ever was, lol. Overall, I'd still put this at the bottom of the season, but maybe not QUITE as low as some of the most notorious misfires of the earlier seasons.

But it would be nice if actually watched the entirety of the episodes without checking out his phone or comments and posts or whatever else, for extended periods of time! Then it would be fair. I mean, at this point it feels like he is just doing it out of obligation, not because he is interested in. I hate when this whole thing became just a job!

2020-07-17 08:17:30 +0000 UTCI agree, the only weak thing in this episode is the Queller demon. It was creepy for the most part until the fight with Buffy. The rest of the episode was fantastic. SMG and Kristine Sutherland were amazing. Yes the scene were Buffy is doing the dishes always breaks me. It feels very real. I personally have felt and reacted the same way in similar circumstances. And the scene at the end between the two of them was heartbreaking. You missed a lot of SMG facial expressions because you were looking at your phone (not “angry” at you, just sad that you missed it). One of her finest acting moment. This episode is important also for the revelations we get about Ben, about what happens with those crazy people. You had very interesting insights. The plot thickens. And we have the whole Riley mess.

2020-07-17 06:46:40 +0000 UTCI honestly hate how people tell you how to watch things as if the first time they watched it they were putting out internet content where it was a review/breakdown style as well as as-you-go reaction. Some people watch in silent, some people watch on their way to work, some people watch... etc. The thing how people say "oh you watch so many shows so your reaction to Buffy is tainted!!" Again, they act as if when they first saw Buffy that Buffy was the only show they were watching at the time and they're so "knowledgeable" about the story and didn't need to watch the show a billion times, read a bunch of BTS stuff online, do vigorous research into the creators and actors. Just... leave Steven alone, he's going to watch how he's going to watch. Either get with it or get out imo, I'm sorry but someone's gotta play hardball around here.

I wish the episode was.....better lol. This ones always skipped in my rewatches, probably lands in 10 least favorite of the series for me. But that moment when Buffy is doing dishes and crying, man is that some hard-hitting reality and an excellent little moment. Dawn's also pretty impressive

2020-07-17 02:42:05 +0000 UTCthe buffy fandom is a passionate one, but many in the fandom can also be overwhelming and overbearing. you are not the first reactor to feel the brunt of their silly comments. i'm following 2 other buffy reactors right now who have recently said the same thing. don't let them ruin the experience for you. ignore them and keep giving your honest an unfiltered opinions of the show. if they don't like it, they don't have to watch. leaving rude and ignorant comments is childish.

I still love your reactions to the Buffyverse. I'd say along with David's Agents of Shield reactions they're the ones I look forward to most.
