I, like everyone else, was blindsided by this episode, most wonderfully. My only (very slight) inkling beforehand was after they went into how motivations affected one's actions, I thought "Well, weren't Tehani's motivations suspect? They have some explaining to do there." But I put it aside because everything else was so absorbing, and figured they'd address it eventually. Bambadjan, by the way, is the actor's actual name as well as his character name.

2020-08-04 04:35:38 +0000 UTCIDK how I missed this reaction, especially since it's the one I've been waiting for since you announced you'd be doing the show lol. This show is just so amazing. NO ONE saw this twist coming and when it hit...that's when I went from "I think this show is genius" to "I KNOW this show is genius." Even re-watching it now, knowing the twist, I can see all the hints, little comments, and whatnot that have a double meaning. Such great writing.

2020-07-21 02:01:58 +0000 UTCI didn't see it coming either. But upon re-watching, all the hints were there which amazes me. This show is fantastic and to me season 2 is just as good as season 1. I'm looking forward to your reactions.

2020-07-14 16:23:23 +0000 UTCagreed, somewhere in the beginning to middle of each of the next seasons I get a little bored but by the end I'm all in again

2020-07-14 13:48:28 +0000 UTCThey actually hint at the reveal when Michael is drawing his plans earlier in the episode. When he titles the paper he has "The Good Place" in quotations. So he wasn't designing a good place, but was designing a bad place called "The Good Place".

2020-07-14 09:58:25 +0000 UTCI just needed your speechlessness ahahaha! This show is just too good! And if you rewatch this season in the light of the finale, it will feel completely different!

2020-07-14 08:33:45 +0000 UTCYeah man, the first time I saw this I was like wait what?! And I was watching it on Netflix so like you said all of it back to back was great.

2020-07-14 08:15:57 +0000 UTCI have been waiting so long for this one. I was so excited you didn't get spoiled.

2020-07-14 08:01:01 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you made it to this point without getting spoiled. As I've said before, this show was more twisty and turny than "Lost," lol. I just love how much this reveal holds up on rewatch. Even on my first watch though, I found myself questioning throughout this season how much Tahani really "belonged" in the good place, so this reveal really made sense for me, even with Chidi. That flashback episode we got with him revealed zero positive interactions he had with any family/friends, so him constantly making everybody in his life miserable really tracked. And I agree, this season is a perfect 10.

2020-07-14 06:28:41 +0000 UTCTed Danson and Kristen Bell knew the ending of season 1 before signing on, but the other cast members didn't know. Their reaction to be told is on youtube, you should check it out.

2020-07-14 06:24:07 +0000 UTCBecause the twist was planned from the beginning, when you go back and rewatch, it all holds up. They made sure to not have Michael have any scenes without one of the 4 main characters so that he would always be “in character” as a good place architect. It was done very cleverly. Unfortunately at least in my opinion, season 1 is the best season of the show. Not to say that it gets bad because it doesn’t but the way season 1 fits together with the twists is just amazing. I guarantee though that the show will continue to surprise you going forward.

2020-07-14 06:11:30 +0000 UTCOhhh, ok I just remembered that one of the things you said was about the people there, Tahani being one of them, you complained that the little jabs about Eleanor's small house and the constant bragging about all the good they do made you question how they earned their way into the good place. It was a good catch on your end!

2020-07-14 05:42:21 +0000 UTCA really really cool part of rewatching this with you, is that in a couple of the discussions, especially early on... you even said "weird that this being the 'good place', all of this BLANK happens/is going on", I don't remember exactly what things you mentioned (hence the 'BLANK') but yeah, you pretty much noticed that this place was flawed and was not all that perfect for them. I might even go back to find what you said, but the point is yes the writers had this plan all along and put little things in that possibly could have clued someone in (not me).

2020-07-14 05:39:09 +0000 UTCI think not being able to curse is part of Eleanor's torture. Everything, down to the design of the furniture in her house is designed to annoy and torture her.

2020-07-14 05:20:35 +0000 UTCI wish, for your own enjoyment to watch the first 11 episodes again, you will see so many easter eggs (in the background) and in Michael's behaviour, showing that something is not right (that this is the bad place). Season 1 was scripted perfectly for the reveal at the end.

2020-07-14 04:19:21 +0000 UTCThe only castmembers that were aware of the ending were Ted Danson and Kristin Bell, here is the rest of the cast learning about the season finale for the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi-J5QyF4hU
