I recommend watching the first three episodes and if you're not hooked, then maybe revisit the series later. Possibly my favorite series. I watch it when I'm working sometimes and also when I go to bed when there's nothing else on. Extremely well written, acted, directed...it's just incredibly good.

2019-12-23 08:53:57 +0000 UTCProblem with the ten commandments are that they are not exactly the same for different denominations and they are not clearly labeled in the bible and called the ten commandments except in Deuteronomy where you get a list of ten rules called the ten commandments that no religious sects regard as the "real" ten commandments. A Catholic and an evangelical will not quote similar commandments, for example the first two commandments for an evangelical are the first commandment for a catholic.

2019-12-21 07:24:27 +0000 UTCThe reason I don't like the pilot that much is because Sorkin is throwing out the baby with the bath water. While the religious right is not my favorite group of people he makes them look extremely dumb by not knowing the correct commandments (he does it later in in the show again with a female radio host). It's just done in such a crude way that it takes away from the point it was trying to make. Episode 3 is much more about the harsh realitics of real-world politics, which is why I prefer it. Besides as you could see, the characters are not really explicitly introduced in this pilot either, you're just thrown right into it and have to find out who's who.

2019-12-21 00:22:33 +0000 UTCI'm sorry that I misunderstood your posting (video?) from a few months ago. It was my impressio n that one could choose an episode away from the pilot if one feels it's better suited to get a feel for the show. But you watching 1, 2 and 3 is just fine with me. :-)

2019-12-21 00:15:31 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite shows of all time. I think it would work great as a Patreon-only show. I don't think many people here would get offended at any viewpoints/opinions you have. I would probably not recommend posting it to YouTube, however. Your moderators would probably not like that.

2019-12-20 22:56:06 +0000 UTCPersonally, I really did enjoy this show overall in spite of not being too politically minded. I like this show for the cast of characters and the actors' acting who play them. Josh played by Bradley Whitford is my favorite character throughout the entire series because of his witty personality. And I love the actor in a number of shows and movies he's in too. I just like his character a lot. In every show or movie he appears in. He's brilliant and hilarious. Tobey is another of my favorite characters, played by Richard Schiff, who if you recognized him from anything... he also guest starred in a few episodes of Once Upon a Time, as Snow White's father, King Leopold. Like you, I like the snarky kind of characters and both Josh and Tobey are the ones who brings that out the most throughout the show. But with all this being said... I enjoy this show and yet I agree with you that it might not be a show to make reactions for. Personally, I would be happy to get to know about where you might stand on certain subjects brought up throughout this show, and I wouldn't feel offended by any means because I understand that what you say towards these subjects would be your opinion and how you feel about them. However, your fear of offending others sadly is justified, given the way of the world today. People get offended far too easily and while you wouldn't be in the wrong in the slightest, others might not see it that way. You don't deserve to be attacked for saying something wrong when it's simply your honest opinion. And I would want you to enjoy this show should you continue to watch it, be it here on Patreon, or simply on your own time. And I certainly wouldn't want any hurtful and hateful comments to ruin you from continuing to enjoy making any and all future reactions for any show and or movie. If you continue to watch The West Wing through reactions here on Patreon, this will be another show I will watch along with you. But it's completely up to you. Thank you! Sincerely, Heidi

2019-12-20 22:34:30 +0000 UTCThis is definitely in my top 3 shows ever made, I understand what you're saying about not wanting too offend people, I imagine Patreon subscribers in the main already like you and are interested in your opinions even if they don't agree but it's not a show I would put on you tube

2019-12-20 22:16:28 +0000 UTCEpisode 3 is definitely a better episode than the pilot, by the way - the pilot is still a touch stilted and the actors haven't fully inhabited their characters yet. They don't fully get there until season 2, realistically. But I agree with starting with Ep 1 because... well it's ep1.

2019-12-20 21:53:55 +0000 UTCWell, you either love it or you're wrong. It's clearly the best written show ever, and among the best acted. There are some other contenders for best show overall, but in terms of pure writing there's no contest. That said, I don't think it lends itself to reactions at all.

2019-12-20 21:52:07 +0000 UTCThis is my #1 all time favorite show. And it's polarizing. You either love it or hate it.
