I did like the story with the rape joke that actually led to a rape. That is the sort of moral dilemmas that i really enjoy seeing explored.

Veronica was acting a bit too much of a paranoid, but Logan's blase attitude towards their relationship kinda bugged me. It's one thing wanting to have your time and do stuff you like, and another constantly ditching your girlfriend to go play poker (as this episode try to show us). And in the end for Logan to not acknowledge that he did anything wrong was very strange and bad writing in my mind. In general a very out of focus episode.

2019-12-23 12:17:15 +0000 UTCi totally agree with what you Said about the lillith house. it feels like they are trying to show how polarized the campus has gotten because of the rapes, and the extreme positions different groups make, but the image of the femenists get a little redicoulous at times!

2019-12-21 15:10:59 +0000 UTCThe original title was “Friday Night Sleights.” They went with a less noticeable pun on the song, “Wichita Lineman.” Armie Hammer is dreamy as always, but I still do not care about this mystery. Michael McKean was supposed to play Dean O’Dell but backed out at the last minute. How cool would it be for Better Call Saul fans to have Michael McKean and Patrick Fabian together again (but before)? According to someone who worked on the show, Rob Thomas loved Guitar Hero, and the writers played it frequently. So it’s not product placement, they just love Guitar Hero. WEEVIL!!! I hate that they set up a potentially wonderful storyline for Weevil and Keith to work together only to dash our hopes, especially when Weevil is GOOD at this — well, except for messing up the case and potentially endangering a child. (Call CPS, people, seriously.) But alas, everyone has to service Veronica’s story, so I suppose it makes sense to have Weevil at the school so he can possibly play a helper role similar to Wallace. Regardless, I would rather see Weevil doing something he enjoys and finds rewarding. I don’t mean to insult maintenance work; it’s fine, honest work. It just feels like the show is making a statement about the system, and how it protects rich white assholes and continues to punish poor POC. I’m glad Veronica realized how messed up she is, and it’s moments like this where she is self aware enough to know that her formative years were negatively shaped by not just her own experiences but also her job. I love Keith Mars to death, but was it great parenting to let adolescent Veronica work in a super seedy profession like theirs? As for Logan, I don’t like the way he is acting, but Logan is also super messed up but without a loving parent like Keith or decent friends like Wallace and Mac to ground him. He is going to act out against Veronica making him feel inferior just like he did with Aaron. Both Veronica and Logan are very flawed teenagers with tragic histories. I’m glad that they got a happy shippy moment at the end. Finally, I hate they keep referring to the Lilith House women as “the feminists.” The depiction of them is already a caricature of women activists — more like the Fox News idea of what feminists are — and it only feeds rape culture. For a show that indulges in rape storylines so much, it doesn’t always handle them particularly well.

I agree with you that it felt like the show wanted Us to feel that Veronica was to jelous, but I saw it as a portrait of Logan and Veronicas differences and moral. Just remember that they always build up the season with a little slow begining with lots of seeds to build from later.

Not consistent, It has always seemed like he had an excuse in previous seasons, Lillys death, his Dad an so on, but really it is just his personality, and I know from experience that it is a very realistic portrait of a certain type of guy. And the inconsistancy is what makes it hard to let go of. He can be a Hero and the next minute disapear. It’s kind of the theme of the episode, Weevil is the same way, inconsistent, and Veronica wants to reform them, like Keith Said.

2019-12-20 23:37:34 +0000 UTCYeah so to give you some perspective on the season. As Nica stated above, this was the first season to premiere on the new CW network, but with that came a few changes. The show was already struggling with ratings, so the network wanted the show to appeal to a broader audience. They wanted new fans to jump into the series and not be confused with the seasonal arcs twists and turns that we got before. So they changed the formula. Instead of the usual main mystery that dominates the season, we're getting smaller, more condensed arcs. So the serial rapist story won't last the entire season. Most of your concerns about this season are definitely legit, but I just thought you should know its largely due to network interference versus what the creators actually wanted. And the whole Logan acting weird thing? Also a legitimate source of concern. The studio heads wanted to up the ante as far as the relationship drama, so its gonna to be a lot of...well, drama, whether it makes sense for the characters or not. I won't say more, but just keep in mind that the studio interfered heavily during this season. Theres still greatness to come so it's not all bad, but there's also a lot of changes to come as well.
