I feel like when Sam mentioned that Dean wasn't strong enough is a complex thing that can be better explained later, though I do think he knewwww his brother could torture since Dean has before. It was moreseo facing the one who tortured him and handling it in a healthy way. In the end, Sam was correct about that-- as well as correct about the necessity of coming in the save Dean's ass.

Such a great episode! I loved your “what the f*ck” face during the reveal of how Sam was getting his boosted powers. Chris Heyerdahl is the actor who played this version of Alistair, and my Lord, is he creepy! I’m not sure if that’s his natural speaking voice or if he alters it for the role (like Misha does to play Castiel) either way it’s chill-inducing! || I agree that the Dean/Alistair stuff was the highlight of the episode. I mean, Jensen is always great (seriously, if Supernatural aired on any other network he’d have a mantle full of Emmys) but when he gets something really “meaty” like those scenes, to work with his talent really shines. That moment when Alistair tells him he broke the first seal - Dean’s face barely moves, yet your can SEE the horror coming over him and then the acceptance that what he’s being told is true, it’s almost all in his eyes and it’s amazing to see. || The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was them talking about Dean not being “strong enough”. Don’t like that attitude. || looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the seasons.

This is the start of 3 episodes in a row that are some of the best in the series....may be spoilerish but just have to say rewatching these makes the newer episodes make more sense....

Fire episode. Just knowing that John held strong for over 100 years, keeping the seals intact, but his son broke and set all of these events in motion. That alone makes the episode, the rest, including the fact that Sam is headed down a... questionable path, is just the cherry on top of what is therefore a top 10 episode for me overall.

I was THIS close to giving it a 10. My mind was being blown by a new revelation every ten minutes! Angels can be killed! Dean has to go back to his darkest place in life. Castiel has doubts. Sam is DRINKING demon blood?!? (Did you see the smirk on Ruby’s face as he drank? She’s up to something). Dean broke the First Seal! The pain on his face at that revelation, holy crap.... To me, this WAS a monster-of-the-week episode - and Uriel was the monster. So it didn’t bother me that was tied up nice and tidy already.... I’m seeing major shades of Jesus/Satan in Dean/Sam dynamic. Theologically, Satan was cast out of Heaven because his pride prevented him from submitting to God, and he stoked pride in Adam and Eve to get them to disobey and cause the Fall of Man. But Jesus came and showed complete humility and submission to His Father's will by dying on the cross to correct the Fall. And here we have Dean at the end showing humility, saying he isn't strong enough to finish this and they have to find someone else. Meanwhile Sam is prideful, drunk on evil power and telling everyone that he himself IS strong enough to do this. I don't see a good end for Sam if this follows the biblical adage that 'Pride goeth before the fall"....BTW, the episode title refers to a cliché about being too concerned with details. "How many angels can stand on the head of a pin?" Medieval Protestants thought Catholic theologians spent too much time parsing theological details that meant little to the salvation of souls, and used that question to mock them. (As a Catholic, I think intellectual curiosity, especially about God's Creation, is a good thing so screw those medieval Prots, LOL). GREAT EPISODE!!

Great episode, learning that Dean was the one who started all this and now he have to end it but he don't feel strong enough. Can't blame him, since season 1 he suffers all the time and he has been through hell, literally, now he comes back and he have to stop the freaking apocalypse... He's tired, I get it. Sam getting darker and darker, drinking demon's blood... Not good idea Can't wait for you to discover season finale and s5.
