I'm pretty sure tho, that you are correct in thinking the reason Oz didn't tell anyone is that the animal part of him wanted to do it again. This is what made him realize he cant find the line anymore... he couldn't stop it from wanting veruca, even more than he wanted willow.

I think this was the worst possible way to write him out. I’m glad they didn’t kill him off, but, at least if they did that Oz would have left on a high note. They compromised his character for the sake of the plot in this episode. He’s always loved Willow and cared for her no matter what. Even, when she cheated on him he forgave her whole heartedly. I can forgive him sleeping with her the first time, because he was a wolf, but the second time was intentional.

Oz is not great with communication, but also, how did that never come up? It was written as a joke, but I find it hard to believe that Willow never asked him if he was going to college.

This was Joss being petty as a showrunner/writer he had a whole story line dealing with this love triangle and because Seth Green wished to move on. Joss move up the time table and took him off the show in this manner. for those blaming Oz, you are correct, but his personality is "stoic" which means he is not the one to share his thoughts or ideas without the proper prodding for those who wish to blame Veruca she is Lycan which means she resounds in a pack mentality and to truly embrace who she is as a Lycan she would have to also mimic the movements because Lycan have pack mentality and posturing as their methods of communication. But we have to blame someone because Willow is broken. But Joss pulls this shit two more times not on this show and it keeps getting worst so maybe we need to look at why Joss rushed through what should have been built up because the Oz/Willow romance deserved it......it was because Seth Green messed with his grand plans and had to be punished for it.

This is the first time that I don’t cry watching this episode, probably because I was distracted by your reaction. This is not a criticism, just an observation.

2019-12-07 16:03:50 +0000 UTCI agree with Bixgirl1 on pretty much everything she said. The first night was a mistake...but when he didn’t say anything, that was wrong. When he let it happen again, that was wrong. Both instances of that made it deceptive and cheating in my opinion. As for Oz not telling he did the same thing when he found out he was a werewolf. Already being in with the scoobies he still said nothing and was planning to chain himself up.

Just one more thing: I legit think the lines, "Oz...don't you love me?" and "My whole life, I've never loved anything else.", is one of the most painful and High Romance exchanges I've ever seen/read/heard in my entire life, and have been gutted by them for 20 years. 😭😭😭😭❤❤❤❤

2019-12-07 10:18:08 +0000 UTC"What the garbage??" = perfect response to this ep, honestly. 😂😭 I loved watching your thought process on this one and found myself laughing in surprise more than once when you made joking predictions that ended up coming true. Lol. My opinions are more severe than yours regarding several issues throughout, though: Was it cheating?: No. And then yes. Despite being way less judgy than most of Xander and Willow's first kiss (just their first), I tend to draw a hard line at any sort of infidelity. But I think it's impossible not to give Oz a pass for the first night with Veruca. I mean, c'mon. He was a wolf, he had no control over himself. That second night, though - that was a choice he made, and I'm not inclined to justify it. He knew what would happen. Those are the bare bones of the issue. And Willow was 100% right: it wasn't the only option he had, locking the two of them in a cage all night, when he knew it would result in sex. So we can extrapolate from that that he simply... *wanted* to. Whatever excuses he tried to make - she's dangerous, she'll hurt people - there was another choice he could have made, and didn't. So yeah, that's hardcore cheating to me. (And fwiw, it broke my fucking heart more than it made me angry even. And I thought it was a fabulous plotting/character point to let him leave the show (because he did have other contractual obligations at the time), that he didn't know where the line was between himself and the wolf, if he'd make those sorts of decisions.) Did Veruca kill people?: Yeah, I think that one was pretty clear. I mean, obviously they didnt give too much (or really any) exposition about it, but Werewolves are dangerous; they hunt and kill and feed; that's what they *do.* If they're making the choice to roam free when wolfed out, they know they're putting other people at risk. Does Buffy have the right to be mad?: lol YES, but I think she was mad for different reasons than you thought (or, mostly, at least). Yeah, she'd have been pissed that Oz lied to her, but I think it was primarily that she'd just seen her very best friend in the world so grief-stricken by his betrayal that she'd almost gotten hit by a car. She was playing on the Rights of the Best Friend. (You're totally right tho - she should have called Xander.) Dark!Willow: no disagreement on your take, I just want to comment on how much I adore that scene every time I see it. "...by the Saracen queen, in the name of Hell. Let them find no love or solace; let them find no peace as well." It gives me actual chills every time I see it. Hardcore, dude. Though, obviously, I also love that she couldn't go through with it, I think it added a nice bit of shadow to the NearlyPerfect!Willow we've seen from the beginning. Anyway. Sorry to ramble. I have a very deep love/hate relationship with this episode, because I've seen it literally dozens of times and it never doesn't make me cry. All of it is so on point, the writing, the characterization, Oz's departure. So, *so* looking forward to your next Buffy and Angel reactions, as always! Thanks for this one! 😊

The cast and crew were devastated and Joss wanted the audience to feel the pain as they did 💔
