Wtf, just realized this reaction is more than a year old and only released to the 5$ tier just now. Did you pick this up again recently? Seems like that's the case and I love it! :)

I also knew all the scenes, but some scenes were obviously extended (such as Neal shaving his beard in the beginning - the scene was much shorter in the short version and I don't feel like the extended scene added anything to the episode, it just made it drag a bit more).

I, too, didn't have it on the radar that this was a longer pilot. I also thought it would be the regular 45 minutes. However, I knew every scene from this episode, so I probably have always watched the extended cut and just didn't remember it was longer). Thank you for doing it. I enjoy these more light-hearted summer shows which are rarely as serious as their main season counterparts (Castle also started out with a ten-episode first season)

I had no idea this was extended and split into two episodes - I have to admit that the extended parts don't add anything to the story and I like the short version better. However, I hope this will get picked up eventually! It's such a great show. The characters and their dynamics are amazing and the mysteries are great. It's so much fun to see Neal use his wits and charm to get people to do what he wants xD

I didn't even know there was a 2 part version of this episode until now. I was surprised by the abrupt ending, as I remembered the story being complete by the end of the first episode. I thought I was remembering it wrong, because it has been many years since this first aired. But I looked it up and they made it into two parts because the original version is like 60 minutes long, so they added scenes to be able to split it for syndication and international airings, rather than have to cut 10 minutes of footage that set up characters and story points necessary to the episode.

I really love White Collar, for its characters and for the overall storylines throughout the series. Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) and Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) are quite the team. Their actors are brilliant in this show. I also really like Peter's wife, Elizabeth who is played by Tiffani Amber Thiessen. She's a great addition to the show. There's so much more to this pilot than what you've seen so far. And I can't wait for your reaction for the second part. So, thank you so much for another fun reaction. I'm really happy you enjoyed this show and hope that it will get picked up in the future. Until the second part...

I think your comparison to Castle, among other comments, is dead on. I enjoyed White Collar a lot, but it was largely due to the characters and actors, and the light, fun tone. From a plot perspective, it's fine enough but nothing special. But I'm not always in the mood for something serious, or plot/lore dense, so sometimes a show like Castle or White Collar is exactly what hits the spot. Also, I've never seen this extended, two-part version of the pilot. Just IMO, but I think the original, shorter pilot actually works better, and is a better representation of the show's usual, brisk pace. This felt quite slow in comparison to my memory, though maybe if I'd seen this extended cut first my preference would be reversed. Anyway, good pick and would love to see it get picked up as a full series reaction sometime down the road.
