Also love the pause and the moment between Reese and Lionel when they acknowledge Reese taking Carter's place. Love this episode.

2020-05-15 01:48:27 +0000 UTCThis is a great episode. I agree the case is not the most thrilling but the gradual building of this brave new world the gang has to survive in is really interesting. I tried to watch Bosch but they do multiple books per series and as someone who's read the books, it was really offputting knowing how they end. The whole joy of murder mysteries and cop shows is not knowing the ending lol so it was hard to get into.

It sets up the new season brilliantly for all that's to come, and while our team are still seeking out the numbers to try to save them or to stop them from committing their treacherous acts, they are also very much fighting to survive now that Samaritan is very much alive. First... I absolutely love that Reese's new identity is as a narcotics detective, and my favorite moment throughout this episode come sin the end, when Reese takes Carter's desk upon him transferring into the police precinct upon him becoming a homicide detective as Lionel's partner... Detective John Riley. Reese's new identity isn't far off from who he's been within the show so far, especially since we've seen him impersonate cops before. However, the Machine also recognizes that this role is the best way for Reese to hone his skills and that he wouldn't fit in anywhere else. Plus... it recognizes Reese has a need to fight to protect people, as he has been fighting to do from the very beginning. So giving him the identity of some guy behind a cubicle, or a businessman... would never work for him. Reese wouldn't survive long in an identity that is so mismatched to his character. And so I really do appreciate that he becomes a detective, especially seeing him become Lionel's partner too. :) I also love that Finch has become a college professor... Professor Whistler. Again, this new identity very much suits his personality and it allows him to stay hidden in the background while he isn't teaching any classes. With time alone in his office at the college, he can work just as he did in the library to help Reese, Shaw, and Root protect their numbers while protecting his team as well. Even though he is currently struggling with trusting the Machine again, just as Reese struggled with doing so after Carter's death. And with Finch's free time outside of classes, he now can work to set up what you recognized to be their new headquarters, which are hidden from Samaritan's prying eyes and ears. As for Sameen Shaw's identity... Shaw is very much like Reese because she too has a need to be able to be aggressive when fighting against the bad guys. It's very much her personality. And so seeing her take up the identity of a perfume and makeup girl inside a department store is definitely strange. And yet this identity is give to her merely to protect her during the daylight hours. Shaw is also given a second, more dominant identity that is more in her wheelhouse as a wheelman for a group of shady, unknown characters, that will allow her to allow use more of her true skills. And I really like this mystery set up for her character. And as for Root... you're right that she wasn't in this episode all that much, and we also don't find out her new identity. Instead, her role throughout this episode was to help bring Finch back onto their team by making him understand that she, Reese, Fusco, and Shaw need him if they are going to survive this war against Samaritan, especially since he was the one who recruited them all. Or at least... he recruited Reese, while he and Reese both helped Shaw to understand she was fighting for the wrong side and to join with them, just as they all did for Root as well. And Root's role in reminding Finch of who he is and what his duty is, is very important. I very much appreciate that her scene with Finch in his office allows us to see just how much she's grown as a character. The mission throughout this episode was interesting too. I love that Reese is still determined to protect their numbers in spite of the great risk to his life now that they are battling against another A.I. that is extremely dangerous because it's an open network, whereas the Machine is not, and for good reasons. And while Reese is a bit reckless in how he goes about trying to stop the bad guys to save their number and his son, I love that the team finds a way to do their duty nonetheless, without throwing their new identities away. I also love that this mission and them saving the Egyptian and his son, allows Finch to build a new way of communication in their new cell phones so that the team can keep in contact with one another. Also... I love how the Machine leads Finch to their new headquarters through the spelling errors in his dissertation that leads to the college library and its books, where Finch discovers blueprints for a hidden underground lair. Brilliant! As for the new Samaritan agent introduced to us in the beginning when we see her sadly kill a reporter upon discovering evidence of an A.I. taking over the world... she's still very much a mystery, but we can already see that she's a dangerous ally to Greer and Samaritan, and I love it. And lastly... I love that Reese also comes to recruit Elias and his partner, Anthony... better known simply as Scarface. It's fantastic seeing them both again, and I love that Elias and Scarface are now on the same side as our team, while possibly still acting in their own interests as well. Overall... this is a phenomenal episode. Not quite one of my favorites this season, but it's very close. And like always... I love that Bear is still very much a part of our team. :) Thank you so much once again for your reaction for this episode, and I can't wait for many more to come!! Until then, my friend...

2020-05-13 21:10:49 +0000 UTCNo spoilers. Thank you for the reaction. First things first. Love the new world, you can see how dark has become and you can also see how far is the reach of Samaritan. Love everyone's new identities they definitely add to the story. Regarding Lionel, he doesn't know about the machine and was not a part in helping the machine survive Samaritan (like the tech guys) therefore Samaritan does not see a connection between Lionel and the machine. Also you wandered about Sameen at the end. Don't worry it will be explained what she does and how she can do it next time. But as for why, my interpretation was that Sameen needed that, and it's also a good way of honing her skills. Regarding Greer. You answer that question for yourself. Exactly what he wants is for an entity like Samaritan to control the world affairs. Also, there are many benefits of being the point man for Samaritan (who from now on you can consider a fully fledged character). Regarding the Brotherhood, that guy's name was Link,the dude with the scar, it was mentioned a couple of times in the episode. And as they mention the man in charge his name is Dominic. So we probably haven't seen the last of them. Love Elias coming back into play. Thank you again for this reaction. Till next time...
