BTW David: Did you notice that when the Tesseract was taken in Norway that Agent Smith notes that he was a part of Odin's (as in Thor's father) treasure chamber?

2020-04-29 00:45:46 +0000 UTCI love this one--just a purely hokey, old-fashioned superhero story. And Steve Rogers is the best. (And yes, he's ordinary... that's the point of him!)

2020-04-28 17:36:14 +0000 UTCWhat you describe about Peggy Carter liking Steve long before he was super, yeah I like that, too. That's also why the Smallville version of Lois Lane also also my favourite. Because she fell for Clark long before there was a Superman and it wasn't the old love-triangle-for-two.

2020-04-28 15:50:40 +0000 UTCToo many superhero movies have no more depth than a video game with heroes that are little more than action figures defined by their powers. Both this movie and its hero have heart. Several scenes stand out emotionally for me: Rogers jumping on the grenade without a second’s hesitation; Rogers telling the Red Skull he’s nothing special, just a kid from Brooklyn; the plucky Brooklyn lad tossed into the East River telling Rogers he can swim, go get him; the rescued 107th infantry regiment marching into camp; Agent Carter telling Rogers she faced similar obstacles being a woman in the military and that both she and Rogers were waiting for the right partner to come along. David, what I liked best about your reaction was your recognition that Agent Carter respected Steve Rogers for his strength of character from the outset. This is one of the few Marvel movies that I can watch over and over for the first time.

2020-04-28 07:36:34 +0000 UTCWhile not a lot of people have watched it, there is an Agent Carter tv series that ran two short seasons on ABC. Peggy Carter is a great, great character.

2020-04-28 07:34:56 +0000 UTCThis is easily the weakest of the Captain America movies, and it's still a really good film. The first 2/3rd of the movie are golden.

2020-04-28 07:34:06 +0000 UTCI’ve always found this movie to be very underrated. People like the other Captain America movies better, but I also really enjoy this one. Red Skull is an iconic villain and I think Hugo Weaving did a great job with the role.
