Hahaha, I know I'm late and no one will see this, but that Colbert performance was an homage to a very specific cultural event: February 1964, the first time the Beatles came to the US and performed on the Ed Sullivan show. That stage was basically their American debut, so it was an iconic moment in pop music. Ed Sullivan was like, the OG variety talk show host, and Steven Colbert is doing an imitation of him here (that's definitely not how he usually talks). Anyway, that's why it's all in black and white and stuff, it's supposed to mimic the original 1964 TV broadcast. The boys are wearing the same style of suits that the Beatles wore for their performance, and the shaggy bowl cut hair too. The cuts to hysterical girls in the audience are also accurate to the original broadcast... teenage girls would always scream, chase the Beatles through airports and stuff, faint in their presence, etc... so they have that in common with BTS, lol. Such a cute and clever concept ๐

Just a little background from a Silver ARMY: Stephen Colbert (he pronounces it Col-BEAR) was impersonating Ed Sullivan, whose show was IT back in the day. In fact, BTS was performing in the Ed Sullivan theater where the Beatles appeared, so this whole performance just blew my mind and sent me right down the BTS rabbit hole, never to return! I wish Tae Tae and RM had been born back in the '60's because then we would be married and happily retired and watching BTS performances together (but BTS would only be 5, sorry girlies ๐)

OMG its so Hilarious how at the End you where denying being in the Coco when I literally just finished rewatching Jimin, J-Hope and JK dancing to Meek Miles - Coco Part. 2 song. They also performed Chris Brown - Take You Down and Kyle - Don't wanna Fall in Love dance covers. If you haven't watched it Peachy you have to its soo Good.
