Gintama - Ep. 151 & 152

Gintama - Ep. 151 & 152

Comments

This treat of an episode with the barbershop made it into one of the live action gintama movies and its freaking great. Btw as far as I know the japanese will show everything but genitals so the censorship you see here is whats censored in japan.

Whenever you see the Shogun, trust me, a train wreck doesn't even begin to describe the episodes he is in XD

when you don't think the episode could get wilder it does and just carries on ahhgdhs I forgot how much I loved the barbershop trio

Infodump: Episode 151: -At the beginning of this episode is a 'new program' Kintama, which is a spoof of Gintama itself, with an alternate setting in the world of Male Host Club Kin = gold vs Gin = silver, resulting in 'Kintoki' having yellow-gold hair -The โ€œChonmage,โ€ often shortened to just โ€œMage,โ€ is a form of Japanese traditional topknot haircut worn by men. It is most commonly associated with the Edo period and samurai, and in recent times with sumo wrestlers. It was originally a method of using hair to hold a samurai helmet steady atop the head in battle, and became a status symbol among Japanese society. In a traditional Edo-era chonmage the top of the head is shaved. The remaining hair was oiled and waxed before being tied into a small tail folded onto the top of the head in the characteristic topknot. -Golgo 17 is a parody of โ€œGolgo 13โ€ a hitman manga -Abu-San is a famous baseball manga. It is one of the longest manga out there, having run from 1973-2014, with 107 volumes. Episode 152: -This episode's title comes from Fukuzawa Yukichi's well-known publication โ€œEncouragement of learning.โ€ The phrase, however, did not originate from Fukuzawa Yukichi. It was adapted from 'The Unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America' written primarily by Thomas Jefferson. -Gintama commercial plug for episode 151 - the 16:9 ratio is a reference to Hi-Vision, which is NHK's roll-out of High Definition television/HDTV -Naruto manga/anime reference: This is a pun on naruto which refers to the garnishing of steamed fish-paste cake, sliced to decorate ramen dishes & The swirl on the garnishing also resembles Naruto Uzumaki's rasengan and Sasukeโ€™s Sharingan. Thereโ€™s also the shadow clone jutsu reference -Gintoki's lack of finishing move is possibly referring to the fact that the Gintama games donโ€™t sell well and that none of the characters have actual moves. The closest is the combo attack Gin used on Hosen.
