Redfall - How Bad Is It?

I'm about 9 hours in and I'm echoing everything they say. Bad AI, bad story, lousy characters. Nothing feels like it matters. You kill a 100 cultists and they respawn in an instant. Even loot respawns. The economy is non-existent, guns are boring etc. At least it runs fine 4K, 120 FPS, maxed out on PC (4090 so it should). I'm playing Arkane's first game Arx Fatalis on the side and it's a hundred times better. What happened?
