The Easy Allies Hall of Greats Feedback

Hopefully you were able to check out our most recent Hall of Greats. I wanted to take this chance to ask for any constructive feedback regarding the presentation of the Hall of Greats while we are still working from home. There certainly is room for improvement, and hopefully we can incorporate some of your suggestions, as well as address as many of the issues that we might not have been aware of.

The Easy Allies Hall of Greats Feedback

Ben, that edit was great. I’ve seen film school graduates turn in worse edits than that. Seriously.

i would love an audio only version of HoG. It is the only stream that i think i could listen to on the go.

Can't drop a Google Doc=)

JessieBlu

Yeah I like this idea, talk a little about each, but more about your top 3. Might take a little longer, but would be worth it overall.

Really loved the format! I think this is the best it can be given the circumstances. I prefer all cameras for presentation so thanks for fixing that in the middle!

Brandon Ray

I like jones going down the list and talking just briefly on all the nominations and there presentations, rather than just his 3 picks. I think it could add a lot if each allie did it as well. Makes it seem like all the games are worthy of being nominated over it just being "these 3 are obviously the best". But no complaints I think you guys did an awesome job!

Michael Stevens

Really looking forward to you guys getting back to the office. I know it must be frustrating.

Jeffrey Tessar

Not really anything I can add. Seems like it was the best it can be without the studio and it worked out all good. Enjoyed it just as much as always! :)

MarziiBarks

Greatly enjoyed it! You guys did a great job of emulating the studio feel as best you could.

I thought you guys did great but I definitely think showing everyone react to the presentation is important

strawhatninja

It was great!

I think the answers should also have a bit of a time limit so that we avoid issues where Ben got cut off midway asking his question to Brandon because so much time was spent answering the previous question.

I've got different feedback but for HoG. HoG is one of my favourite eza things but sometimes I'm not aware it's happened or that it's coming up. I would suggest posting on patreon that it's coming up + posting on patreon the YouTube video once it has uploaded. Right now it's treated more like a stream thing when in reality a lot of people on patreon enjoy it similar to your offline produced shows, so it's worth reposting here to get more eyeballs on it. This is coming from someone who doesn't go to twitch or YouTube much. Just mainly consume your content through patreon. Also an audio version would be great.

Definitely agree with the larger presenter screen idea others have suggested. Would also like to see the rebuttal reworked in general, I think having the time just end at 5 minutes in the middle of a question is a bad idea, perhaps if a question has started within the time limit it can be finished and the presenter gets 30 seconds to respond. Or maybe add a debate structure: give everyone but the presenter 30-45 seconds to ask a question with a 30 second rebuttal from the presenter. Might add more time overall but I think there would be less dead air. Time on stream visible to both chat and the allies would be super helpful regardless which way you go. Just want to end by saying I loved this iteration and hope they continue!

I like the idea of having everyone on screen but the presenter having a larger portion of the screen covered, similar, like Alexander stated already, to the reaction videos. And now would be the time to change anything up. If the timing of rebuttals is difficult with these circumstances maybe give each ally one question to ask the presenter? It seemed like turning in the results went very smoothly, it even seemed quicker than counting the chips in person.

I feel this iteration of HoG was done as great as possible for a first time with everyone all at home. It's understandable there are a couple of tech hiccups, but overall it was really well done. That said, I have a few minor suggestions for the next one: 1.) If there is someway we the audience can see the timers for presentation and cross-examination. I know that's not ever really been of real importance for the viewer, and it may be more unnecessary work, but I think since it's all digital for the foreseeable future, it was something nice that came to mind. 2.) I had the thought about the mortis setup for the presentation portion: While it may not be as viable as what was used, I felt the layout you all had for the PS5 reveal could be as effective: All eight Allies are on screen, and the large area could be devoted to presentations. The drawbacks of course being it's not really useful for those without visual aids (a substitute could be the list of nominees and/or the past winners), and it takes up a majority of the screen if unused. 3.) While I didn't participate, watching live I did agree with the chat having all Allies on screen (save the Confessionals of course) served the experience for the better. While I wouldn't mind if the presenter was larger than the others, during their presentation/cross-examination, all Allies should be seen. 4.) While selfishly I enjoyed knowing the points of votes because I volunteer to keep the HoG record on the forums updated if someone else or the OP doesn't (speaking of which, I need to check that), I think not knowing the votes for when everyone is apart is better. Thank you very much for reading if you do! I really enjoy the HoG streams, whatever iteration they take. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Seriously, possibly the best you could do in the situation and was as good, if not better, than the regular format.

I liked how the recent Hall of Greats was handled. I see some ways it can be improved (for example, having bigger picture for presenting ally or his video while keeping others on the screen – similar to your reaction layout), but I don’t think that these improvements worth the amount of work that is required to pull them off. So if you do another Hall of Greats exactly the same way I’ll be happy with it.

This was a comment from someone else on Twitch while I was watching but I can't remember who said it. You should set it up like a reaction stream where the main screen is the person presenting. That way you have a close up but you still get the other allies' reactions. I thought it was pretty good though either way.

Flawless Victory! It was great! Something I noticed was that it seemed those who presented a spoken presentation seemed a lot looser and more comfortable. I guess it helps when you don’t have a bunch of people staring at you in person. Took the nervous edge off I think. Great show!

yarden

Honestly it was amazing for conditions you guys had to work in. If there’s another I’m sure most of the kinks will be worked out.
