Get Ready for the Devil May Cry Retrospective

One of the reasons I became a supporter on Patreon were the goal to make Retrospectives. When that goal went away, I understood why and could agree with the reasons provided by Jones in Cup of Jones, but I was sad to see the goal go and feared they allies just would not have time to make a new one. I am very very happy to see this announcement. And for DMC no less!!! THANK YOU!

I'm so sorry. There isn't early access planned. Totally my fault. I should have edited that when we removed retrospectives as a goal and I simply missed it. It made sense at the time as that's how we rolled out Dark Souls, but every Retro is a very different undertaking. -Bloodworth

I'm a bit confused. Is May 16 the early access release date or is it just going up for everyone at the same time? If its going up for everyone, you might want to take Retrospectives off of the $5 Early Access description.

Hey Alexander, sorry to hear you're bothered by the rollout, but it's neither a shadow drop nor necessarily the last retrospective. We've given about 36 hours between the announcement and the release, and I don't think it would benefit much from a lengthier window. We definitely wanted to do something on the shorter end, particularly in contrast to people having to wait months in frustration for updates. Interest lives and dies pretty quickly on the Internet, and even 5 days later, something is considered old news. Just this week, Nintendo announced a Direct for Super Mario Maker 2 the day before will go online, and they rarely give a whole lot of lead time for their videos. And while we've done away with the Patreon goal for Retrospectives, that doesn't mean no one will get the itch to do them again. It just means that we've recognized the challenges in trying to produce them on a predictable basis, and want to avoid making promises that we can't realistically fulfill. Also there may be other ideas that we want to produce that we'd have a little more freedom to pursue. -Bloodworth
