The Evil Within 2 - Review

YES! Strong vibes!

Am I the only one getting TLOU vibes from the way stealth/crafting works in this game? Not saying it's bad, but unexpected. And MAN that camera is WAY too close.

Haven't watched the review as I'm still playing through the game and don't want any spoilers... but I've played about 10 hours. Story picks up right after the DLC of the first game. The story is much less obtuse and much more direct this time around. You have a clear objective and reason for going back into STEM as Sabastian. You meet and interact with a lot more character this time around. The villains have been entertaining and interesting, but some of the more minor side characters have been a bit forgettable. One of the new characters I met recently I really like though. Combat and controls is one of the bigger improvements from the first game. Aiming in general is just much less sluggish. Melee combat, though not easy, actually feels like a viable option. Stealth is very much improved too with the ability to hug walls, peak around corners, and even grab enemies from around a corner for a stealth kill once you've leveled up your stealth abilities enough. RPG elements aren't much different from the first game. They are a little more streamlined and easier to deal with, but they work the same way. The new thing with this game is the ability to craft any type of consumable, healing, bullets... etc... which is more of a nice convenience than something necessary to survive... at least on normal difficulty. You find plenty of ammo and resources as you explore the environment. The game structurally is setup a lot like Silent Hill 2 or 3. It's a large, open environment that you can explore with more environments opening up as you progress through the story. The game also has side-quests that you can choose to take on, which reward you with items, weapons etc.. and let you find out what happened with other minor characters throughout the game.

I would've liked to hear more on how it improves over the original. One of the weaker reviews if I'm being blunt. I loved the opening hours of Evil Within and hated where it went. It also had significant problems and I feel like this review was a bit shallow and really didn't go into depth on how this stacks up in comparison. Is the story similar? Is it more interesting this time? Are the characters good? Interactions between them? How has the combat evolved since the first game? How has the RPG side of the game evolved? etc. These are all things I didn't really learn.

Or review the next one as BATMAN :)

So Resi 4! Can't wait to play it. Take care of the voice Brandon, sounding a little hoarse.

Great review
