Group Stream Night Vote

What I Heard is that one person complained when they streamed DOA way back when so now games with boobs are off the table. I wonder if someone went in chat and said blood/gore makes them uncomfortable if they'd stop streaming games with any violence, I doubt it since boobs are evil to americans apparently.

Warning: If you hate the concept of accepting different kind of people with different interests than you, you really shouldn't read this, cause I love living beings in all variants + This is mostly just thoughts that came to mind as I was writing this after thinking about it the whole day during university (couldn't concentrate one bit hahaha...), so it's all over the place (but mostly sad) It's like "Hey, there are anime breasts in the game so it's EVIL" :( I just don't get why something harmless and fictional like this is considered "bad" when there are so many bad things happening in the real world... :( Why is a jolly vibes game like this considered bad? :( It doesn't have to be something like a fanatic cult doctrine, but the way PBS was vetoed from the list, to me, is the exact opposite of Love and Respect, a concept that, since the GT days has made a better person. But maybe I was wrong and Love and Respect doesn't matter after all...where is the "respect" when you say "This game is bad, so we won't show it on OUR stream, cause we are GOOD and want nothing to do with PBS, which obviously only woman-hating rap**ts like"...(that's what I heard Brandon say in my mind while listening to his explanation...) Goddamnit, the more I think about this (shitty) situation, the more I start to dislike the EZA...can't someone make me forget this ever happened? I don't want to dislike the Allies...please... :( There isn't really a reason for me to be this honest here, but it's honestly been awhile since I've felt this bad and I can't believe it's cause of the Allies, which are usually one of the reasons I enjoy this live of mine so much...I think I'm gonna start crying when I go to bed later...

Maybe the nominations should have a weekly theme? Like one week it's puzzle games and another it's fighting games.

I agree that EZA should condense the list, but I don't think they should provide a clear-cut reason for games they veto. First, it invites a small section of the community to find loopholes and push an awkward title, either as a good-natured prank or even trolling. Then if EZA decides to veto the game anyway, people have reason to cry foul. Second, a clear-cut reason puts a burden on EZA to articulate a single doctrine of "acceptability." Any attempt to justify this philosophy would sound judge-y, and it may not even reflect the opinions of every ally. I'm guessing the allies had a discussion and formed a consensus from different perspectives. One ally may not have agreed with the depiction of women in the game. Another ally may not have been comfortable with the undertones of assault, especially given the headlines in Hollywood this week. Other allies, less concerned with the content, may have just wanted a game that everyone could enjoy without cringe or disgust. That's what friends do. So in the end, I think Brandon handled the statement well. He didn't condemn the players who voted for the game--he simply established a boundary for EZA. The allies--as a group--aren't comfortable with a game like this. No individual ally is the party-pooper. No brand philosophy or moral choice is exposed to ridicule. No rules to attack or exploit later. Love and respect are attitudes, not legal doctrines. It's friendship, not a transaction--grace, not judgment. I hope more people, whatever their opinion of this game, can appreciate this philosophy over time.

So it really pains me to say this.... but...I am disappointed with all the choices,,,(which was my fear) and honestly the turn of events that have led us to these particular choices. I Just think you can't give so many options for so many people to vote on, because in the end- the games are either not going to live up to the validation of being a nomination for all the patrons, or the powers that be (the 9 allies) will over rule something for whatever reason, but then the committee will clearly feel unrepresented & swindled. Its kind of a no win situation unfortunately overall, which is why i think we may need a smaller patron tier for the voting committee; or we go back to the old way of just kyle choosing the 3 options. I know that any one way is not perfect, but i hope we can find a better way.

As Kyle has said many times before, never cringe. Nobody was forcing them to play the game. They willingly implemented a new tier that was all about suggesting a game to play, something nobody even asked them for. They came up with this idea on their own. The game in question has the second most amount of votes, earning a spot on the weekly group stream poll, and they tossed the game with all the paying Patron votes for it out not even allowing it to be part of the poll. If the comments on this topic are a good reflection of the overall attitude of the community, it wouldn't have won the poll if it was allowed to be on it anyways, but it wasn't even given the fair chance it earned. You might dislike or disagree with the game in question, but enough people wanted to see EZA cover it fairly that it deserved the chance. Saying you cringe at your fellow community members for wanting this is not Love&Respect.

My suggestion would be to mirror what some above have said. I would have the all tiers group poll (on Sunday) be comprised of: (i) the biggest game of the week, (ii) a selection of the Allies/Kyle, and (iii)-(v) the top three vote getters from the $2 poll. I do believe the Allies should get to veto whatever they want for whatever reason, but that reason should generally be explained since they are receiving funds for the privilege.

I like the EZA community, but there's a sizable chunk of it that is pretty cringe-worthy. It should not be a surprise that the game they've already denounced is getting vetoed; you shouldn't want to force them to play a game they don't want to. It is very clearly not a slippery slope issue.

As others have already pointed out, I don't think this new system works. Having to click "Load more comments" countless times just to see what everyone submitted, getting multiple duplicate submissions, etc. is tedious and time-consuming. I would suggest to either find a better way for us to vote, or revert back to Kyle picking a shortlist first and having the $2+ patrons vote. Maybe have a monthly suggestions call where everyone can nominate whatever they want, and then pick from that pool throughout the next month to fill the shortlist, while throwing in the new releases of the week alongside those. Edit: Also, from a more "commercial" point of view, I don't think playing board games or old/obscure games during the weekly stream is an efficient way to attract new viewers to the brand. New releases are always going to be more appealing, so that's something else to keep in mind.

IIRC Senran kagura was really controversial and caused a lot of arguments. It seemed pretty split even among the Allies themselves, and that caused a lot of people arguing in chat. I would enjoy seeing it but it's not a good idea for a group stream.

Meh, I think anyone can understand why the Council would veto it. Even if you only think about the quagmire that Twitch chat *can* be (though usually not for Easy Allies), it has the potential to be a nightmare for Moderators to keep under wraps. As blue as EZA can get, they are trying to be accessible to a general audience.

I don't mind the game not being played. I only voted for it because the section it came up in during E3 was funny and Ben said it actually seemed like a decent game, so I was curious to see what it was actually like. The frustrating thing for me is the fact that Kyle removed it from voting without any communication. I mean, we are literally paying for the ability to vote on these games. You at least need to acknowledge that you cut it and ideally explain why. It also needs to be made clear on both the pledge description and the voting post each week that Kyle will cut games he doens't like to favour those he does. It was clear that if he didn't think there was a good enough option he'd add a fourth game, so we understood and accepted that when we pledged, but it wasn't made clear (at least to me) that he'd remove those that he didn't like - even if it's against the majority. To me, that's a big deal. I hope this will be addressed on the group stream because unfortunately I think this new voting tier has been a bit of a disaster. I don't think that Patreon has a good enough comments section to support it. Having to spam click "Load more comments" when there are 299 (without any way to sort them) is pretty frustrating.

I see what you're saying, but it literally IS up for debate. There's a $2 pledge where people pay extra to pick the selection of games that are streamed. It literally is a choice that Easy Allies offer and more than that, they charge patrons for that ability.

Really hoping we get an explanation for that hard veto over Peach Beach. The game is a lot of fun and I think that it has a lot to offer, especially for a group stream. If you take the entire Senran Kagura series past face value, you’ll find a series with good mechanics and fun gameplay. I think the people who voted for it did so out of enthusiasm for the title and the enjoyment it has to offer.

It's rude to refer to people who like a game you don't trolls. Some people don't like overly violent and gorey games, but they aren't calling Huber a troll for being the person he is. They simply tune out when it becomes too much for them.

I disagree with the hard veto. First off, it's lazy. When Kyle wants to reneg on bets at least he turns it into a bit that is funny and infuriating. Instead, we get a post that simple says "No", which is lazy. If you are going to turn heel on your community, at least put some effort into it. Secondly, it is just a video game. Clearly, someone was passionate enough to make it. Why not have a group stream to find out what it is? Nothing wrong with playing it for 30 mins and then putting it in the forgotten box. This game is part of the industry we love. It shouldn't be shamed liked this without given a fair shake. I think that is what bothers me the most about the veto. It just feels extremely dismissive

I'm sure we'll get some thorough explanation and clarification Tuesday night along with some changes to this whole process, so I'm waiting for that to make up my mind about all this. Still, a PBS stream later on from Ben or something could be a nice olive branch after all this.

I just hope people who are voting and nominating games/stream ideas really try to think what would make a fun group stream. I feel that the Senran Kagura votes came from the right place, on paper it could be a really funny stream, but you have to respect the veto. An uncomfortable stream makes for bad content. I also hope for varied streams, and that if a trend emerges, that EZA will step in an change up the process, maybe have themed weeks where nominations have to fit within the theme. Anyways can't wait to nominate some weird stream ideas.

Deary me... I want to put my two pence in as a Patron who was considering upping his pledge to be a part of this Committee. I absolutely understand that, ultimately, the Allies only have so much time together and the time they spend all together is usually when they produce some of their best content. In which case I support that they can veto a game from selection if they want, protecting their brand if they feel like it needs protecting. That's not even going into personal matters of uncomfortableness. To be fair to the Allies, I've just checked the playlist. I don't think they've ever played a Mature rated game on a Tuesday night group stream, or at the very least nothing that's known to be especially violent or raunchy. Edit: Actually wait. I just remembered they played DOAX3 for half a stream. Now I'm really confused. That being said, I'd like to have some idea of what the Allies will and won't veto. Is gratuitous violence okay? Would I be able to nominate something like Postal or Outlast? Or is it just Anime TnA? What about Dead or Alive 5? I definitely won't be upping my pledge unless some clarification is made. P.S. I really don't think Secret Hitler is a good idea. I think it'll be much harder to film and organise than the Pokemon TCG stream due to the increased number of players and the complexity of the secrecy.

I believe, going forwards, that a full address should be made on the stream with an explanation as to the vetoing of the game in question with each member submitting their own personal viewpoint on the game and the reasoning behind it not being up for voting selection by Patreons to the Easy Allies community. A full, at least 5000 words, terms and conditions document should also be posted the Patreon site so we all know where we stand... ...Because the world falls apart due to some tits and ass game being vetoed. It was only selected because hurr, hurr let's see funny pictures and watch people feel uncomfortable as opposed to selecting from a metric tonne of great games.

They'll probably wait to address all this until the actual group stream. A written explanation of the rules in detail would be nice, too.

I wanted to chime in to say that I fully support the veto choice. It's obviously up to you (the 9) to make final decisions about what you're willing to play for the stream. The reason for the choice doesn't matter and is not up for debate or judgment from anyone. If that wasn't clear to people, then it should just be made clear for the future votes. However, if possible, there should be a better system for suggestions. The comment list definitely got out of hand and it must have been difficult to tally.

I didn't vote for PBS, I voted for PUBG - but I think it's a little silly to veto it. Didn't Ben Moore say that it was actually fun? It's not like its a hentai game, its sold on PS4. If the allies are too uncomfortable to play it as a group, maybe Ben should stream it so people can get over it being vetoed.

On the next vote I recommend making guidelines ahead of time before people start voting for Leisure Suit Larry next. Video game content isn't the only content that EZA produces, so I don't see the issue with having tabletop games as options. And in the end what they play is up to them, I thought it was implied there would be a veto if something inappropriate / uncomfortable for them came up. I'd rather watch a stream where they play something that won't make them uncomfortable. Very hyped for group stream this week regardless.

If it does get forced through it will be the most spiteful, uncomfortable stream of all time. All for boobs.

Having read the controversy on this post, I agree with both sides. While its not fair to veto a game that is being released on the PS4, it would also make a terrible stream to have the allies suffer through something they do not want to do as a group. Maybe the compromise is to have a subset of the allies play the game together on a different day (like Ben, Brad and maaaaaybe Kyle/huber on a friday) as a way to recognize the votes that PBS did get? That way everyone can get their cake and this very dumb controversy will not carry on through subsequent group stream $2 tier votes

What if a majority of the people that voted for SK think it's an enjoyable game that gets a bad wrap because it has a lot of fanservice? Ben and Brad both said during E3 the game was enjoyable. Love and Respect should be about respecting people's opinions, and if the majority opinion is "we want Senran Kagura" then the community should respect that. And if you don't like anime boobies then don't watch the stream and lobby for your game next week.

I don't mind the veto system personally when people try to get games with questionable content into the voting. So while it’s great that they’re letting us have influence on the games they’re not our puppets there to do whatever. I feel like this is one of those "seriously...come on" moments. I'm sure there's a few people who voted for PBS because they think it's a fun game, but can you really say that the majority of people didn't vote for it simply because it's a boobie anime game where sexy anime girls are the main focus, and just want to see the reactions of the Allies to that? L&amp;R, to me, is not forcing the Allies to play a game that makes both them and a large portion of the audience uncomfortable. People complaining about the veto seem to be ignoring what exactly was veto'd.

I personally would not have voted for Senran Kagura, but the fact that the first week of a new tier for paying patrons who voted for a game, then said game was then vetoed due to hazey happenstance is just asking for the Allies patrons to pushback. I would not be surprised if this will be a weekly trend of Senran Kagura receiving the most votes until it is up for stream vote. Bottom line: Blood is in the water (Not Daniel), and the sharks are swimming. Easy Allies should let the most votes compete, regardless of personal animosity or prejudice toward any game up for vote. Let paying patrons feel like their vote counts, or scrap this whole process altogether.

I found Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash to be an actual super fun multiplayer game with some friends and never even played any kind of Senran Kagura game. The fanservice was pretty cartoonish and after the initial few minutes it wasn't even a bother. It was kinda like Shokugeki no Soma for me as it easily can put people off looking from the outside, but at least with SK:PBS had some actual substance and genuinely good stuff to it If you're willing to be open to it. A little dissapointed, but If there are Allies hellbent against it and even uncomfortable with it then maybe I can see why.

Guys 2 of those 3 are not video games! I think the group stream is at it's best when you play something competitve like Wind Jammers that was hands down the best group stream you did this year, i hope you reconsider your selection guys the 2 board games you can do in another stream

The group stream is supposed to be fun for everyone. We have to use our power to vote to ensure a diversity of games, not to force them to play something they're not willing to. Now its SK:PBS, should we let Postal or Hatred next? I actually think the committee selection should be only 2 of 4 on the pool. I'd still want the new releases to appear in group streams, but the committee has some bias for nostalgia and controversy... and tabletop games?

I think a 4th pick would still be neat in the future - doesn't have to be a weird game but just a personal pick from Kyle and the other Allies. It would allow this Selection Committee to still vote for their top 3 games, but then still allow an opening for the 9 Allies to choose a 4th alternative. Best of both old and new formats.

I loved the new process. I agree with the council for what it’s worth, but maybe worth addressing at the start of the stream on Tuesday? Now to submit Final Fantasy IX again next week in the hope it gets through.
