Frame Trap - Episode 38 "All in the Looks"

Comments

Great ep, only note to Ben is that you shouldn't worry about explaining the Caught in A Frame Trap segment anymore, we all know what it is by now so you should just dive in.

I guess you could consider games with rpg elements but no plot or character developments as simple strategy games similar to chess or poker, or even trading card games in the case of galaxy of heroes.

BHL

Jones, I couldn't play Final Fantasy VII either or Shadow of the Colossus because I came to them way too late. They just look awful...

GW Fawkes

Mystic Ark was similar to 7th Saga, maybe even from the same people, no official release tho.

BHL

Ben, where do I get that shirt?

On the topic of Octopath Traveler if the concept of the game really resonates with the allies I can recommend a few older games that operate much the same way where you pick one of many characters, each with their own story that can only be experienced fully if you pick them from the start. - Saga Frontier/Romance Saga - 7th Saga - Legend Of Legacy (More recent at least) - Unlimited Saga - Live A Live (Only available in english via a fan patch) Games where there's TONS of characters that you can recruit (And can be missed in some of them!) - Chrono Cross - Suikoden series - Arc the Lad series Just a lot of really awesome games =) 7th Saga alone is such a great example, you only get two characters for the whole game but there's 7 characters total, and they can come and go just as easily as you find them. Some of them don't like each other, some will actually hunt you or require you to fight them in order to win them over, it's just such a neat concept.

Love the long episodes! I normally listen to them over the course of several days breaking it up by time codes

noooo where is kyles vr game ???

Ben, I love you, I think you're a wonderful human being who adds so much joy to my life, but we need some special Caught in a Frame Trap music. Would elevate the podcast to a 12.5/10

Sharp bark from Sophie was immediately followed by a sharp bark from my own dog. The twist: I was wearing headphones. ooooOOOOOO

When you were talking about peripherals I was thinking maybe VR is the future for them. We had that plastic gun already so who know what the the future holds.

Olf Himself

Maybe this has already been said but have you thought separating Frame Trap into shorter episodes? I find they are really hard to watch due to their length. I still love them though. I just find it hard to fit them in my schedule, and maybe they would be more accesible to newcomers with a shorter format (kind of what kinda funny does with their shows)

This is correct. Tomoya Asano was the man in charge of Bravely Default and Bravely Second and he is a producer on this game. Acquire is indeed the developer though. They are probably most famous for the Tenchu series, and Way of the Samurai series, though they also made Shinobido, Akiba's series, and others.

Colt Smith

Correction? I could be wrong, but I don't think Octopath Traveler is developed by the same team that made the Bravely games. They share the same producers for sure, but the development company is Acquire, which I know just from Akiba's Trip. The demo has staff credits so I could look it up; perhaps the director has actually worked in the Bravely games too.

Mindes Endian

Dude, yes.

Nice...3 Hours of work whilst caught in a Frame Trap tomorrow. 3+ is the best!
