Metroid: Samus Returns - Review

Comments

I like Metroid and this game does look pretty solid, but honestly, after putting 30+ hours into Hollow knight, it a little stale to me. HK just captured everything I wanted out of a Metroidvania type game. It also went on for a really long time, so idk if I want to play another for awhile....

Ian's editing on this one was fun.

Played the demo for this at PAX and it totally changed my impressions of it (positively). Was my biggest surprise out of the expo! Cool to see the demo wasn't a fluke!

Like every other video game, this should come to the Switch.

It could be ported to the Switch, but I might not be that easy since it looks like it's designed for a system with two screens.

As we have learned before many times, Nintendo doesn't like making easy money. This could be released on the WiiU and Switch, right now, easily.

Great review Ben and great editing Ian. Just a few thoughts: 1) Nintendo really has no reason to not release this day and date on the switch. None 2) I know you explained it in your review, but the counter just seems cheap and seems like it would make the game way too easy 3) Unless the 3D is very good, I have no idea why this wasn't just a 2D Metroid. The art style and aesthetic kind of bum me out :'( If it comes to Switch I will give it a try for sure, just thought those things were a bit weird

Level with me Ben, could this game come out on the switch ? Similar to Monster Hunter XX ? I really don't want to buy a 3DS this late in it's lifecycle just for metroid.

Great review Ben/Allies Happy to be able to support you guys. Just as happy to feel good about supporting the Metroid franchise.
