Easy Allies Podcast #75 - August 30th 2017

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 concludes in an unlikely fashion, Sega has a lot of big plans for Yakuza, and and the Secret of Mana remake is just right for Damiani.

Very cool how Mark Laidman put the ending to Bosslife 2 The Final Episode out there so fans could have closure even after Devalve Media lost all interest! ... ... ... I understand why Kyle wouldn't want to make the comparison himself, but fellow allies could have gotten a little bit of insight out of him about what would drive a writer to want to finish something they created in whatever way is possible. This episode needed an Ian pushing Kyle.

Where's Don's Knack bet?

I mean they literally talk about the retro at the end of the podcast.

CORRECTION: The Souls games doesn't have music for just the boss fights, every hub area has a theme, the Firelink Shrine, Majula, The Hunter's Dream and even the Nexus in Demon's Souls and always stick with you the amount of time you spend there! :)

CORRECTION: When correctly guessing the Radical Highway level from Sonic Adventure 2, both Brad and Damiani go on about things they remember about the level. Brad mentions being chased by a train and Damiani sings a part of the music from the level. Both the train and the song are from the opening level City Escape, being the downhill act where Sonic skateboards on a plane wing. Radical Highway is the nighttime Shadow stage where he is grinding on the rails of bridges.

Halo 3 Music for the last level when you are driving a warthog and everything is exploding https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_pAa9252Uo That soundtrack and Mass Effect 2 are two of my favorite soundtracks that actually stuck out while playing. "The Illusive Man" on ME 2 was my text message/alarm for a long time

Love how Brad is talking about how Valve should at least talk to their fans about a product that should be available by now while we're waiting for that Dark Souls Retrospective

See You When I Get There

My guess is mold is currently in Damiani's cup

It's hard too think of mediocre games that have good music. However one jumps too mind Bound by flame. It had some epic music https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aRHJDo-HZQQ The final boss while haveing its problems was a experience with this music background and black flames. A rough game that frankly was too big a dream for both the inexperienced and underfunded developers. But I personally enjoyed many ideas and elements of the game that if with more experience and budget could make somthing truely great

Whoa, careful there, while the Navy did use Top Gun to promote itself, Top Gun was not made explicitly for that purpose. Your parents named you after a very fun and capable movie character. I was named after Sean Connery so imagine my disappointment when it turned out he was a woman beater.

Sean Dupree

yes, i think Kyle may have been thinking of Pearl Harbor which pretty much let Michael Bay film on their ships and in the ports. Although i don't believe tax payers actually financed either movie.

Here is a great rendition of one of the songs from the Jurassic Park soundtrack Kyle mentioned. https://youtu.be/Rzghpk3H0BE?t=13m34s

Uncharted 4 soundtrack is not that great , but game is still good , but I think some moments could had been far more memorable with more memorable soundtrack.

I am thinking Valve will ignore the "fanfic" because if they go after it, it basically confirms that was the real deal, whereas if they don't acknowledge it at all it preserves some mystery while also giving plausible deniability if they do end up making a game and the story is different.

CORRECTION: The game that they listed for the Sonic game is "Sonic 3D Blast" from the Sega Genesis. It was an isometric, top-down Sonic game that came out late in the Genesis lifespan. Also, Knuckles Chaotix was on the 32X, the Genesis Voltron-esque add-on system device thing.

Thankyou Michael Kozachenko for being a sponsor.Thankyou to the Allies for another great episode

Speaking of mediocre games with great music, I think some of the Super Robot Wars game have awesome tracks.

Kyle, I feel like I'm tangentially obligated to way on in this issue as my name in real life is Maverick (after the very same Top Gun movie). I don't have anything interesting to say about Top Gun, but I do have to say that after learning tonight that my name is linked to a movie created to make the army more interesting, I feel really bummed out. Thanks again Tom Cruise.

Correction: look up the pronunciation of the word epistle. : )

Because a one to one remake will just show people how dumb and broken and bad that game actually is. Or at the very least highlight flaws that people might gloss over.

SnakeEyes

Possible correction: The US Navy didn't directly pay the producers of Top Gun but instead gave the filmmakers access to warplanes and aircraft carriers at *heavily* discounted rates in exchange for being able to edit the script and show the Navy in the most positive light possible. They did, however, brazenly use it as a marketing tool, with recruiters often opening their conversations asking if people had seen the movie, and even going so far as to set up recruitment tables *inside* movie theaters lobbies to pitch people after they had seen it. They weren't remotely subtle about it.

@47:54 KYLE ;___________;

Why can't FF7 remake be a one for one but Crash and Call of Duty can?

Chris H

@21:15 Kyle.... ;___;

Thank you! Finally someone saying HL 2 Episode 3 instead of HL3. But I still have hope that one day there is going to be a game, and to make it better shadow dropping on Steam. PS: HL2 Ep3 was heavily tease on Portal 2.
