Don't Skip - Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Hey there! Here's a Don't Skip for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. From what I've played so far (around 11 hours), it seems like a very substantial remaster and I've very much enjoyed my time with it. The new additions feel very substantial and the world Ivalice is a pleasure to take in. I hope you enjoy the video and there will be more updates for The Zodiac Age in the coming weeks.

Don't Skip - Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Comments

I just wanted to pop back into this comment section and add that I'm totally possessed by this game in the most positive of ways. A few days before FFXII ZA released I went and bought my two highest prioritised backlog games Horizon Zero Dawn and FF XV.. I have put around 6hours combined into those since FFXII ZA took pole position and maybe 18ish into FFXII ZA. It's not only the feeling of playing a great Final Fantasy again (last time I felt that it was with the FFX remake) but the turbo button makes it so I can play it in my preferred pace. I'm a "power fantasy gamer" I love overleveling, tuning my characters into game crushing code or just exploiting a glitch or something of the like (yes the Seitengrat can be obtained I got one today). If I want to farm some XP or LP for an hour or two the x2 or x4 makes it a blast!. And then I can pace the story to my liking as I know I won't run in to any speed bumps since my characters are so powerful. And the English voice acting in this game is amazing! No need for subs and original voice track this time 😉 Oh and if you want some powerful gear early get those diamond bracers on and set the steal gambits then run Trial Mode 👍

To be honest, I am surprised by the size of most remasters. FFX/2 HD - 30GB, GoW3 40GB, TLoU 45GB, VC 29GB. I bought it anyway, but I am starting to wonder if buying my remasters on physical copies might be a better idea.

Hola Allies - I just downloaded FF12 and was surprised by the 40 GB download size. Anyone else surprised by this?? I mean the original PS2 version couldn't be more than 10, so I wouldn't have blinked at 20 for a remaster.... anyhow, excited to play this game! I got through like 80% on PS2, but never beat it. I couldn't pick it up years later due to the inverted controls, but this fixes that!! (Maybe y axis inversion takes up takes up a TON of space ðŸĪ”🙃 lolz)

I wish I had the time to jump back into this game. Played it back in days and it's my second most favourite Final Fantasy game (#1 will always be Final Fantasy 6).

Still, if this version end up letting some new players see the potential, scope and beauty of the Ivalice Alliance, and the promise of the gambit ai system, I am all for it becoming successful, maybe we can get a new Ivalice game if this gets enough recognition.

If the greatest addition to a remaster is the ability to skim through it at 2 to 4 times the speed and a job system that should have been in it from the very beginning I personally don't think it shows the original in favorable light, FF12 will always be a critically flawed game to me and nothing short of a complete remake with the original creator, whom left the company during the development of the original, will ever make it right, just make a new Ivalice already and let the sleeping dog lie.

The additions sound great, I hope this will change peoples opinions to how FFXII was where the series started to fall off a cliff (I think FFXIII holds that distinction), but I've put WAY too many hours into the original to play it again. If I play another JRPG this year it'll be something new (Ni No Kuni 2 maybe).

Derrick DesRoches

Really excited for this. Played the heck out of the original but that was so long ago that this will be like a brand new game for me.

I like this "don't skip" format for release day game impressions.

This game will be a nice birthday present to myself. Can't wait to play it for the first time in a couple of days.

Karl Williams

I played maybe an hour or so of it, and so far it seems really cool. I too was a bit worried because Mighty No 9 didn't click with me, but so far Gunvolt Burst has left a good initial impression. -Ben

Easy Allies

Hey Ben I keep hearing good things about Mighty Gunvolt Burst on the switch could you take a look, might be worthy of a don't skip. I just can't buy it with No9 in the game, is that weird.

Thanks for the push Ben. I don't know why I was on the fence for this one since I have played and enjoyed the other Final Fantasy's. but it's ordered now and I will be picking it up tomorrow (Europe) 😊👍

Can't wait for this game to unlock tonight!

I finally beat my old PS2 copy of the game a year or two ago, I wish I'd had this version back then, because the grinding and boring license board were two things that made it a chore to finish. BUT after completing it, I did enjoy the overall experience.

Too many games out, I'm unfortunately gonna join the skip again club lol

Brogan Trull

I never found the time to play this one and when I finally went back to try and play it on the PS2, it was almost impossible to play on a modern TV (the text was impossible to read). So, I've just ordered on Amazon and looking forward to finally playing this unique entry in the franchise.

Scott Dancer (Zdman)

Ooh that's a spicy don't skip
