Wonder Woman - Spoiler Mode

Catching up now that I've finally seen this, so thanks for the great discussion! I was glad to hear Ian bring up Born Sexy Yesterday, not because I feel like Diana falls into that trap, but rather because her relationship with Steve hits some of the same notes. I would have liked to see her interact with more people (possibly in the village), so that Steve wasn't her one impression of the good to be found in humanity. Would have loved to see more impact from Antiope's death as well, or at least some more visible connection to her people shown after Diana left the island. Overall loved it, though - feel ready to go out and punch some stuff!

I think my only regret with the movie was what happened to Steve, I would've liked to see the older Steve Trevor you get to see in the animated Flashpoint, or like, the Steve Trevor they touched upon in the alternate WWII from the Justice League animated series. I think that would have been great to see their relationship develop over the years.

Thanks so much for making this, Ian and Huber!! I saw the film last night and loved it. Watching you two discuss it made me love it even more. I agree that an extra hour of Themyscira and all those strong female characters would have been amazing! So much hype and good vibes for Wonder Woman. :) L&R

Also, I'm VERY worried about Justice League's take on Wonder Woman. One of the best parts of the Wonder Woman movie was that Diana was naive to the human's world. It was funny and charming seeing her lost and confused in the human's wold. ...But none of that is going to remain in Justice LEague because at that time, she's already lived with humans for 60+ years. So im scared she's going to lose her charm and humor. But...we shall see.

I have not seen the movie, do not care anymore for super hero movies. But I have one question: What reasoning is given in the movie on why she sides with the Entente?

Best DCEU movie. it was great. ... and i LOVED the callback reference to Justice League War, the scene with the icecream lol. greatness. Also, Rupert Gregson Williams did great as a composer.

Now that I have had time to digest, my final thoughts are those of disappointment. I thought the first act was great, the second act was good, and the third act was pretty bad. There was a lot to like about the movie (chemistry of the leads, humor, production value, costumes) but it also had a lot that I couldn't overlook (surprisingly bad special effects in many scenes, many unintentionally cheesy/funny moments, the main villain being atrocious and something every Marvel movie has). I think in a few years once people get over the hype of it all they'll realize that it is a very average movie. Don't get me wrong: it is a great step forward for the DCU and I hope Justice League followed the same path, but the pieces didn't make a cohesive whole for me. Edi: I thought the much talked about No Man's Land sequence was the absolute cheesiest part of the movie. Took me completely out of it.

Love the Spoiler Modes, especially as I'd seen both Wonder Woman and Alien: Covenant just a day or two before their respective Spoiler Modes came out, so I was very curious to hear your thoughts for both films. It turns out they pretty much mirror my own. I won't go into detail here just in case but I've seen a fair bit of criticism over the final act elsewhere but I thought it was awesome. The first act was probably the best (it had some really great characters) but the spectacle of the final act didn't feel over the top to me and I loved how the characters involved looked and fought.
