Still loving the show, but I do wish it was a bit longer and slower going through the story discussion. I like the battling but prefer the discussion. Sometimes Brandon does rush or focus on the clipboard. Like with the minior pokemon. There seem to be different colors for those only one pokedex slot thankfully. A couple of other thoughts: I personally just beat the 3rd kahuna and I'm curious if Brandon has any thoughts on the story or if he doesn't care. It seems to me some of these people are related. For red it didn't matter but now it's a shame that Kyle is ahead. He couldn't speculate early on because he didn't want to spoil it. If you do another one of these series I'd say keep that in mind. I have seen a lot of comments on the machamp graveyard scene, did you miss it? I am curious how often Brandon uses Z moves? Maybe that's making it easier for him? And lastly...Kyle pronouncing kimono as camino was unfortunate lol L&R

Hey guys! Just wanted to leave a tip (though I'm sure if you would Mr. Jones): Because Mr. Bosman has (at least twice) thrown out a speedy Pokemon to set a trap as his first move, you would consider doing the same? It might make it the goal of fainting three! The battles are my favorite part of the episode, so the closer the contest, the better! Great episode and looking forward to the next one!

To add onto this, the event Munchlax you can get has a move called Hold Back that's pretty much a signature False Swipe. Munchlax also comes with a bunch of extra helpful move. Happy Hour doubles money from trainer battles, quadruple with Amulet Coin. You can also learn Yawn by level up, which is a 100% chance to sleep something that takes a turn to kick in, which is insanely useful for this game, because sleep prevents a wild Pokemon from SOS calling for help. Pokemon's chances of calling for help go up as they get lower in hp, so you can first turn Yawn at something, then Hold Back next turn to knock it to 1 hp, and it will fall asleep at 1 hp without calling for hp, perfectly ready for capture. It's a bit stinky cheese easy, so it might ruin the fun of catching stuff for you, but if anything is really giving you trouble, remember it's an option. Kyle mentioned during the episode Minior self-destructing. The way I got around that was Damp Psyduck, since Damp prevents Pokemon from using Self-Destruct/Explosion moves, and Psyduck gets Disable, so after the Minior tries to blow up and fails, you can disable it from using the move again for a bunch of turns while you switch over to another Pokemon and whittle it down for capture.

Another great episode. On the first island you do actually see a an old woman being carried by a Machamp in the graveyard in much the same way you ride one. I stopped playing once the credits rolled to get into the rest of backlog so have not really gotten into any post game. I do get demolished every time I try online play. I think I won 2 out of 10 matches.

I'm guessing the episodes are running a little long. I would love to hear more feelings on things as well. Especially character interactions and the context because this Pokemon game they address (but never fully explain) a ton of things that they were wondering about during Brandon Plays Pokemon, such as: The presence of police, the Boxes, Pokemon eating Pokemon, Pokemon in the past, Pokemon attacking People, etc. I keep running into things that make me think of Kyle and Brandon and how they'd respond to it :P

Kyle I'd love to hear more about how you get through the game as well! Like, how did you beat that grass totem Pokemon? Spoiler warning for other people who are not as far as Brandon yet. I am very new to Pokemon so maybe that is why the fights get tough for me. That Lurantis solar attack was so powerful it obliterated my team. I immediately saved the game because I felt that this failure was meaningful to me. I got so overconfident beating the previous Totem Pokemon with relative ease that I went into this one without any preparation. So after I ran back as fast as I could to the PMC to heal my Pokemon and petting them silly cause I felt sorry for our crushing defeat I went back to previous spots to put together a team to take it down. IIRC I changed every Pokemon in my team and Salandit was my main star. And I grinded to level them all up to 23 I think... And got them all items and berries, and I even waited till night time, in the vain hope that it couldn't charge its solar attack at night. Well... Trumbeak ate all my berries, and it turns out that Lurantis can charge its attack at night no problem, and my effort to poison it failed, as well as my attempts to make it sleep. Besides, Trumbeak was hitting my team hard without me ever getting a chance to focus on it. My Salandit (which I secretly had expected to be able to win this fight singlehandedly) was taken out of commission by Trumbeak real fast. I could not find a surefire way to prevent it from using its solar attack, aside from keeping its health low so that it would keep regenerating instead of attacking me. Still its regeneration would not run out of PP and my team was crumbling under the constant barrage. So I used a Dire Hit on my last hope, Growlithe (called Wodan), and he barely pulled through to make the killing blow and it felt very good. Wodan is getting a lot of beans. Now I'm at the electric Totem Pokemon and I haven't seen that many Ground types... besides... the Ground type moves that I have can't even hurt it because it has Levitate. But its Electric moves are so powerful it's pretty much knocking my team out in 2 hits much like Lurantis did, without the need to charge itself up. So I guess it's back to the drawing board. I find it amusing that Brandon just breezes past these (for me) very tough but also meaningful fights. I would love to hear how you dealt with these encounters. Anyway, I never expected to love a Pokemon game and I'm absolutely loving this one. Great episode yet again. Game on!

I got Pokemon Sun for Christmas, so I've been feverishly playing trying to catch up and surpass Jones so I can happily listen to this show. I'm up to the fourth island now. It's crazy hearing how easy this game is to Jones. For example, Guzma's main Pokemon literally one shots all of my Pokemon (after Swords Dance). When I battle him, it's really intense and a highlight of the game. But to Jones, he just moves right on by. Same goes for the grass totum. I have the fire starter, so I have the type advantage, but this battle was still really hard, what with the secondary Pokemon as well as the synthesis move to recover health. But to Jones, who has the type disadvantage, finds it easy. Mind you, I try to ensure that I don't over level myself. But I wish Kyle would talk about these segments more, just because it'd be nice to listen to someone I can relate to on this show regarding my experience.

Jones! To solve your troubles with catching weaker pokemon, teach one of your pokemon the move False Swipe! Its a Normal type move that always leaves the opponent with 1 HP, it will never knock it out (just make sure you're not poisoning them as well as the poison will knock it out) I'm pretty sure you have the TM, TM54 which is given to you by Professor Kukui after defeating Melemele Island Kahuna Hala.

Brandon... VERY IMPORTANT! My 3DS also resets to midnight every time I shut it off and it really messes up your PokePelago experience. You gotta leave your 3DS on and in game then plug it in somewhere and leave it. If your game detects its been reset to midnight then you will get almost no new beans from your stalk no matter how long its been. That's even if you then go in and set the time correctly. It took me forever to build up any number of beans till I learned this.

Hey Kyle and Jones. Great episodes so far. One complaint would be that you guys just kinda blaze through the story bits and don't really talk about what happens. I would love to see what you guys did where Jones gave his predictions and thoughts about what was going on and what might happen. That was always interesting. Anyway... keep up the good work! Love watching this show.

Correction:. While not as easy, you can catch Ultra Beasts using Pokeballs, therefore they are still Pokemon. I assume the name Ultra Beasts is just a way to identify any type of Pokemon that comes from their dimension and will just be a new category like Mythical, Legendary or Ultra Beast pokemon.

As far as feedback goes, the only thing I can think of is slowing down a bit. Jones blasted through all the story stuff without really talking or thinking too much about it. I'm sure you'll get into it a bit in the next episode, but Po Town is probably my favourite area of the game, so it would have been nice to hear what Jones thought of that when he first showed up there. Also, if I remember correctly, that conversation on the mountain with Kukui is when the idea of founding the Alolan Pokémon League is first mentioned which, as well as being very important, is another of my favourite aspects of the game. I know time is a factor with recording, particularly on Tuesdays when there's so much else going on, but I'd almost prefer more time spent on story and no battle at the end than fleeting mentions of plot points. Anyway, still really enjoying the show.

Grimsley is a member of the Gen 5 (Unova) Elite Four, although his appearance is slightly different in Sun/Moon including the kimono, so I don't blame Kyle too much for forgetting about him and thinking he's a setup for the next game. He's memorable for having a sweet casino theme and sitting down in a chair before you fight him in Gen 5.
