I do exactly the same. Especially in all Final Fantasy games.

With such heavy story type games like The Witcher 3 I tend to hit up every single Exclamation point and every question mark before I ever touch the main quest. That way I can just binge the main quest so I don't completely forget about important story elements of the game. And the side quest stories are so good in the Witcher that it completely satisfies that urge to play out a story line while avoiding the main quest.

Thank you Huber, that has been a problem with me for a long time. That's why I almost only did the main quests on Fallout 3, my father is missing, how can I role play truly and do anything else besides going after him? That's why I could enjoy New Vegas with more freedom, I am trying to understand what happened to me, but there is no time limit to know it, and anybody can have clues, so why not talk to most people? Why not engage with them? I hate the disconnect between story and mechanics, and most RPG's have that problem. I usually choose not to do everything, I even wish most games would stop me doing everything. Really, how is it possible that I become an arch mage on the Mage's Guild and then start pick pocketing my way up the Thieves Guild? It doesn't make any sense...

That's how I felt when playing through the first Xenoblade Chronicles; the story just felt so dire to me, that I didn't really want to do much exploring or side quests.

because of you, i now RP all my games... and i have no regrets. Sure it might take a little longer to finish because instead of running through a town, im slowly walking and slowly panning that camera around in cool action shots, but boy does it look and feel good lol

Wait, I'm pretty sure I remember a couple of quests in Witcher 3 which you either had to choose between more than one or there was a time limit to complete it by. I could be mistaken.

Interesting thoughts Huber. I'd imagine most people's predisposition is to be against timers in games, but you make some good points in the video. Not sure if an explicit timer is the right way to go about it. But maybe something that basically acts like one would be better (e.g monster will most likely kill your after it completes its animation cycle. This way you get nice context around a timer), and it's nice knowing it was a guaranteed death)..

Huber thank you for calling it out at the end of the podcast this week it is Inconceivable! That so many people say princess bride is better than shrek. Shrek is a good movie but princess bride is truly the classic between the two. Please share that with jones lol
