Cup of Jones - May 4, 2016

Putting together our first Community Comments video, reviewing Battleborn, and getting ready for a Walt Disney World vacation pushed back Cup of Jones a couple days this week. I promise you'll get one of these a week, no matter what our crazy schedule throws at us. We also had our first Q&A! Here's to a wonderful May for all our allies and patrons.

- Brandon

Cup of Jones - May 4, 2016

Comments

I've pretty much never played anything besides inverted. I think it was the default in GoldenEye, at least I don't recall there being an option to the contrary. I even play inverted vertical AND horizontal in Breath of the Wild, the latter part harkening back to my GE/PD (and early Halo) days of "legacy" controls, where strafing was on the C buttons (right stick). Moving blocks around with Magnesis just feels right with a reverse pivot.

TurboChickenMan

Loved the inversion explanation with the camera! wasn't dumb at all! I never realised it before

I was also wondering this

Question: If, and this is a big IF... IF Disney, Marvel and Star Wars add playsets to LEGO Dimensions, will you invest in that game? -Darth Smurf X

Shane Sanders

I always play inverted myself, though only the Y-axis. I usually explain it by describing how a camera points down if you pull the back of it up and vice versa, but then people point out that the same would apply to the X-axis. Your helicopter/flight stick explanation works way better for me in that sense. Will use, thanks Jones!

Hey Brandon. I was always a big fan of Just Played and I've been absolutely loving Brandon Plays Pokémon. It's got me thinking about what I believe could be a pretty cool EZA editorial-style show. A cast of however many of the allies want to be involved, playing a set amount of a game each week (similar to your badge-limits in Brandon Plays Pokémon), and discussing it in a Just Played style video at each weekly interval. Basically a video game book club. I'm sure it's overwhelming to have us all constantly throwing show requests at you, but I just think it would be great to see a chronicle of you guys experiencing new games for the first time together. You could even take game suggestions from Patrons. Anyway, keep up the great work. PS: I am sorry for your loss of Disney Infinity.

Blood went on vacation and GT got cancelled. You left for a holiday and Disney Infinity got cancelled. As the editor-in-chief of EZA, can you please ensure that no one else takes holidays until the FFVII remake is released? L&R!

Brandon, how do you feel about Disney Infinity's cancellation? I always watch your ToyBox Tuesday streams. Love the content and keep it up!

Brandon I'm inverted and we I know why u are like me. Goldeneye. The default scheme in that game is inverted. You mentioned you didnt think it was that because the look up and down are assigned to the yellow buttons. But you forget that if you held down R shoulder button, the analog stick was then used to aim and the control of that stick was inverted. Like me, you must have played a lot of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

Sorry this will be long. I'll start with a thanks for answering my question on the Q&A; and I gotta say, I have more even more respect to you than ever before. I did watch that last dumb game monday after the fact; and I couldn't tell that you already new gt was done at that point. Just the temple to be there with a straight face and to me you even look cheerful. Maybe Amanda or someone close could catch something was wrong, but I couldn't. I guess that's why you are the guy behind the most successful patron after not even a month of it being created. Lots of respect to you Brandon. Second, a silly question. I remember you mentioned Counting Crows - Mr. Jones to be your third favorite "Jones" song. What possibly could be 1 & 2? I just love that song so I'm really curious about the others. If you are willing to go the extra-mile and do it a top 5 it would be awesome. Last, I loved the editorial. Like you, I'm inverted. I remember first playing Resident Evil 4 with my roommate back in 08. Whenever one died, that person had to give up the controller. Me liking to play inverted and him hated it just added to the fun. Having to give up the controller after dying in a intense boss fight and forgetting you have to change the control scheme until you tried to aim your gun to a larger than life enemy and going in the opposite direction of what you intended, always ended up in screams from the controller holder and laughter from the other one. It just added to the fun and tension. One of my cherished moments from that game and my roommate. Hope you enjoyed Orlando! Love & Respect. César.

César Villa

Brandon, don't know if someone posted this already, but did you explore the YouTube Space thing in LA? Full production set & et.al. for rent? Could be a good place to have a "EZA @ E3 2016" where you can have guests, etc.? Just a thought. Don't know how much those things cost. I personally love the garage vibe and can't wait for EZA @ E3. :)

Are you guys planning to have an E3 presence?

I would love a tour of the EZA garage, especially your Pez collection I keep seeing in the background. Any way we could get photos or a video of all the cool stuff in a patreon post?

Matt Brookbank

I'm pretty new here, so never saw don before last day in gametrailers. I pretty much know nothing about him. Could you tell me a little more about him?

OneGamerPunch

Fun fact: In the aftermath of playing Ratchet & Clank PS4, I felt an itch to revisit the original PS2 games of the franchise and bought the trilogy-edition for my Vita. All three games feature FULLY INVERTED camera controls by default (pushing the right stick up tilts the camera down, pushing it left spins the camera right etc.). And the best thing is: In the options, both axis are actually marked as "normal" in this set-up. So ... I basically had to invert to play with "normal" controls ... :)

Camian

i do inverted as well, and what you explain just clicked!, maybe cuz im a camera guy as well!

always played inverted. look up=pull stick back, look down=push stick forward.

I love planet Earth too Jones!

Samuli Vuorinen

Thank you Brandon for talking about Inversion. I play inverted too. I don’t invert the left/right. Do you invert the left/right too? Am I just twisted? No pun intended.

Any chance getting soundtrack-related show from Blood?

Alexander Zyryanov

Interesting that you see yourself as the camera-man behind the character in games. I play default, but being a left-handed person, I'm used to the concept of having to "bother" people to get things my way once in a while haha! Playing Kid Icarus Uprising, for instance, is extra challenging for me.

Brandon, also, for the patreons $50 and above, when are we going to receive the fan mail? Thank you

Brandon, por favor has un video en Espaniol. Tienen una gran audiencia y hacer algo en Espaniol atraeria mucha gente, te lo prometo.

I got to say Brandon, the only time inversion made sense to me was when I played star fox. Or like you said when your flying a plane, for shooters it feels weird *shrugs* but your camera analogy made sense.

Rken Blade

I would imagine it goes to their personal monthly income. They have to split that money up monthly in order to support themselves.

Rken Blade

Hi Jones, I hope you are enjoying your time in Disney! ;) I really enjoy your show and casual it is! I hope you continue doing it! I have a question about Patreon support. there some goals that have been already met in the first month, like buying a couch, PC and equipment. how will the money of these goal help you in the coming months. THNX and take it EZ, Ali

Ali Almutawa

Hi Brandon, great show! A quick practical question: During group streams, is it possible to get more microphones in the room, specifically for the guys in the back? Greetings from a small fishing town in a low density part of the Netherlands.

Henk Groenendijk

On the topic of inversion, I completely agree with you, though for me, it's a matter of perspective and what kind of controller I'm using. If it's an FPS, I'll avoid controllers at any cost and control it regularly with a mouse, since I anything else feels imprecise and weird to me. But when I'm playing a third person game, the camera needs to be inverted and I'll stick to a controller. And it makes sense, if you control someone from behind, it's that exact natural thumb motion you described, like a Lakitu floating behind your character with a camera. The first time I actively realised this for myself was when I started controlling Link in WindWaker THROUGH the camera. If you just go straight ahead you can make him go left or right by swaying the camera in the opposite direciton, so when travelling long distances on foot that's exactly what I would do, therefore basically circumventing the games actual control scheme, at least partially. Or so it felt to me, but for some reason it felt much more satisfying that way^^

w1ndch1ld

Hey Brandon! Calling in from Germany here. I love how you embrace your international audience! I doubt you'll have to expand to different languages though, part of the joy of watching channels like yours is being able to hone one's understanding of English while also enjoying your content. I'm admittedly at the point where there's hardly even a reference I can't catch from your shows, but other folks who're still learning will be able to improve by simply watching your videos and that's all you ever need to be - a great English source of interesting opinions, discussions and footage. Love you guys!

w1ndch1ld

I need that wallpaper :)

Inverted FTW

Impact93 (Jon)

Dear Brandon, I was wondering since the review system is still very new and review counts is still low, could it be possible to give us some retrospect benchmarks such as Bloodborne, Persona or some Final Fantasy to give better perspective of where everything stands?

Hey Brandon, I had a quick suggestion and a quick two questions. When you're done playing Pokémon Red you should consider watching the Pokémon Origins 4 part anime and have you thought about sending patrons like a 10% off coupon on Spreadshirt and is Disney and Universal better in Florida or California?

I agree, a top 10 doesn't HAVE TO be all game footage. It can be a couple screen shots and one of the crew on camera talking about why that thing is at that rank on the list.

Ian Alexander

For top10, I totally understand where you coming from, Brandon but I think you might want to try experimenting with the format. As a fan of your team, I(and I think most of us allies) value both your team and individual opinion. So it would be really nice to see top10 for each individual member of the team. I think it would also benefit from the personality of the team. I imagine Huber top10 would be real hype. Bosman top10 would be silly and fun. And Ian top10 would be weird(but interesting) And you and Blood and Ben and Brad and Don :) And I understand that you worried about show schedule and quality. For me, as independent group, EZA dont have to be strict with schedule and format. You don't have to force this into a scheduled show or anything(I know you guys are really busy) but kind of a bonus show or something if the individual Allies are willing to do it. This would also goes to Trailer Score. We just love to hear your(and other Allies) opinion on trailers and I wouldn't mind if the show is not the same quality as in GT(yet)

Wicky "Pokkuti" Salsa

Hey Brandon, Goldeneye is inverted as default using the C-buttons. Also mario 64 was inverted in first person mode. Basically most of the great N64 games that had camera control were default inverted. Which is why I think this has been ingrained in my brain since. As they where the first true 3D games I played :)

Hey Jones! Inverted here as well. The hatred for pausing the game to switch controls is very real... Can I make a suggestion? Why don't you separate your editorial from the Patreon exclusive Cup of Jones info at the beginning. The world needs to hear your brilliant thoughts. That would give you more content to share on the main YouTube channel. I'm sure that's a bit more work, but I think it would be worth it for Easy Allies as a whole. Thanks for the great stuff! Enjoy your trip!

Jesse Freeman

Seria muy bueno ver contenido en español!

I like the idea of you bringing in other people to do shows. I've heard you refer to EZA on twitch as a network of streamers. I think why not try to expand on that if they're, you know... a good fit. I think you guys do streams better than anyone.

JT

I gained a ton more respect for you the moment I saw the Abstergo mug, the best one yet, but then I lost ALL of my respect for you when you said you're an inverted piece of garbage. I joke; my sister is an inverted player too, but I always assumed it was because she's a lefty. Is there any chance you're also a lefty? I wonder if there's a correlation or not...

Inverted Allies Unite!

I love hearing why people play inverted or not, or some hybrid like inverted for flight controls only. I play inverted Y for everything, due to getting used to it from TIE Fighter as a child.

Really loving Cup of Jones. And i have to say, i feel like you don't waste a single second of the show; all the info is very pertinent. Thanks Brandon.

Have you considered partnering with Mug vendors/artisans? You feature their cool mug for a week and possibly sell them temporarily on a future Easy Allies store? like the temporary t-shirt sites

I'm only about 30 seconds in, and I mean no offence Mr.Jones, but the most important thing that can happen this episode is absolutely that Batman Beyond portrait.

I used to play a lot of things inverted because of flying games like Star Fox 64 or Star Wars Rogue Squadron.

Minamik

Hey Brandon, was just wondering if you could give me a few "must-dos" for Disney World Florida? Heading there in late June and would love some tips on the best rides/snacks/experiences etc.

Alex McMillan

But do you invert left and right? If so.... WITCH!

Hi Brandon, I was wondering if based on the allies previous fame/respect, do game publishes still send you early copies of games?

Derrick DesRoches

To clarify the "Backdoor Shady" comment. Is the concern that you are being supported by undisclosed parties or that their sponsorship doesn't factor into the patreon stretch goals? I understand the first point but as a Patron I'd have to disagree on the latter. You're already one of the most succesful patreon's of all time and still can't get back into a full scale production. Any additional revenue you pull in doesn't feel like it needs to be part of the patreon social contract. If you guys get an additional 20 grand a month from somewhere that isn't the patreon we don't need those stretch goals.

You guys will obviously have better analytics on your subscribers and Patreon numbers than the public, but it looks like your number are beginning to level out, at least here on Patreon. Have you considered adding stretch goals in between your current dollar donations and the goal of fifty thousand? Thanks for everything!

Colin Cooper

Jones! Noticed the Buffy box set. My teenage years were basically Buffy and Angel, I'm assuming you're a fan? A great show and Sarah Michelle Gellar remains to this day on my "Top 5" 🍆

Adam Mullany

Hey Brandon, I'm really enjoying Ian's original songs on Easy Update. Any possibility of a compilation release of all that music? Maybe a vinyl release? I'll pay TOP dollar for that. TOP DOLLAR!!

Yeah, I'm absolutely an inverted player. My first games that I played from a first-person perspective were flight simulators. But also, if you had to move your eyeballs from inside of your skull (damn that got gruesome), your thumbs would move down to tilt your vision up and vice versa. Which makes it weird that I don't invert horizontal, now that I think about it...

Hey Jones! Just a quick shout out regarding the "international audience". First off you are so lucky to live in the Sates, or any other english speaking country, because english is the de facto international language. So you can just stream or do any video on your native language and your audience can be the entire world. I'm portuguese, it's the 7th or 8th most spoken language in the world, but any video I do it's bound to be a small local thing. I noticed a small thing you said, that you'd like to do reviews on japanese or spanish, and then you added that you didn't know if people in spain would be interested in videos done by 9 white guys. Well, two things, first off it seems the international audience does, even in english, and secondly... in Europe there is no such thing as the latino race. Spaniards do not think of themselves as latino, anyone looking like Banderas or Penelope Cruz is, basically, white. Brunettes if you will, but white. Latino is as american thing.

Miguel Pires Ramos

Hey Brandon, when you get the new studio, are you planning on taking Sophie with you from time to time and letting her on camera? Seeing her in so many EZA videos right now makes her kind of another EZA member. It would be a bummer to not see her again once you got a real stage.

your analogy is flawed, because your thumb would move left to turn the camera right. Unless you play with your x axis inverted too... you monster!

Sean Dupree

Count me in on inverted controls. *Bro fist bump*

Saugerdees

As I watch this I can't help thinking to myself why would anyone care, AT ALL, how someone else plays a game? You play inverted, I don't, and you playing inverted literally has ZERO effect on me and my life. So I have ZERO care how you play. Play hanging upside down for all I care could give 2 shits, you do you.

alan roosen

YOU WERE BUTTONS?! I'm calling bullshit!

Brandon, what happened to Matt Blair?

I love these Cup of Jones episodes.

Chris Martinez

What caused the dip in the beginning of the month? Do people pledge money to watch the shows and withdraw before charging day?

When anyone asks me why I use inverted controls I tell them to look up at the ceiling and then down at the floor. Then ask them which way they moved their body or tilted there neck. You tilt back to look up and tilt forward to look down. I feel as though the control stick is my body or neck so that's how I control it. It just makes sense to me. Also in VR I'm guessing everything will be inverted controls sort of.😀

Inverted shady deals.

I learned pretty early to use inverted controls. I remember getting Star Fox for SNES and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to uninvert the controls (I was pretty young). I wanted to like Star Fox so much even though I was really bad at it so I mastered this inverted control scheme. To this day I play everything inverted, whether it is an FPS, flight sim, or 3rd person game. It aggravates people because they have to keep switching my control scheme when they come over, but they can deal with it :)

Man, I love your voice!

https://easyallies.tumblr.com/

https://easyallies.tumblr.com/

I am glad you are reviewing Battleborn, I was a little concerned I could be Huber LOL

Daniel Fuchs

To the point about playing inverted. I played inverted for my whole life. Until at 24 years old, playing multiplayer at my best friends place and finding myself going to the menu as always to change my settings to inverted - I kinda stopped and thought…’this is just dumb. The only reason I play inverted, is because I started out playing inverted. And I never bothered to make the switch. There is nothing about inverted that is different from not playing inverted, so I should just switch’ And so we made a deal that the next time we would play games I would not be playing inverted. I went home and practiced through 2 weeks of the most agonizing torture of dying constantly due the literal reprogramming of both brain and muscle memory. And as of today I am now happily gaming forever after without the need to pause the game and switch my controls to inverted. The end.

Nice, an answer to my comment! Thanks! And have fun in Florida!

Timo Arnken

I was always the outlier who wasn't inverted, and not quite sure about this but wasn't halo 1 inverted by default. Nice work Brandon

Yes, for me EZA show are what i listen to in the morning while doing breakfast. Love from Italy!

Hey there! I think the E3 2015 reaction was one of the best and most memorable moments in the history of Gametrailers. Is there any chance we get live reactions from you guys again for this years E3 conferences?

RedVIII

Perfect explanation about the invertion. I also invert and that was exactly my thoughts on it. Works just like a camera.

MaxVSTheGames

I grew up playing inverted because my older brother convinced me that you weren't good at video games unless you played inverted (turns out i wasn't good anyway). I have since made the switch to default because it's easier than making the change every time.

The spoilercast for each episode of Life is Strange with Huber and Elyse were awesome. I think that format works perfectly for episodic adventure games. It kind of sums up each episode and gets you ready for the next one.

Benny Samuelsson

Great show. Well worth the wait. Its was great to know that its not just me having the battle with friends when I change the controls to inverted. Your explanation very good. For me I always image the right thumb stick as the top of the characters head and do pushing it forward moves his head down, etc. Loved the Q&A and the range of questions covered. Again great show!

Kearn Grisdale

BTW, i'm totally with you in on the inverted side; i didn't even know it had a name. Now i feel special ! It made me think about VR, if there would be an option for goofballs to look up in VR by looking down.... probably not.

Randy Verschueren

It's very cool that you involve so many patrons, but all those comments readings, Q&A here, Q&A there, and even name readings, all that stuff takes so many of your time. I'm not against that, I just think that you can spend that time doing something more useful. And as someone already sad that here - we support you, your shows, your creations. If I want to read patrons comments, I will read them by myself. Maybe it is better to answer questions during streams? But I understand that not everyone can watch all streams live (like me). And another thing, for example, I asked my stupid question from Q&A on streams SO many times but no one never answer me. Maybe because it is stupid. But comments of several persons who seems like live there in the chat have been read all the time.

Sooooo.... what does 36.000$ buy you in Disney World ? ... no i'm just kidding Jones, but what does it buy at Disney World ? ;)

Randy Verschueren

OMG Jones.... YOU WHERE BUTTONS... but, but, how ? :(

Randy Verschueren

Have fun in Disney World!

Garrett Walker

Is there no episode of Brandon Plays Pokemon this week?

Rick Argomaniz

I play inverted and have never really thought why. I just know that whenever I have the camera set to default in a game I just can't control it. I suppose this explanation actually makes sense though.

Finally... A decent explanation with the inverted controls debate (I'm in the default side but I always had the curiosity to know why some people choose that scheme)... BTW, a Spanish spoken Cup of Jones will be interesting (at least one... XD)... Cheers from a humble patron in Bogotá, Colombia... :)

I am loving these editorials. The subjects surprise me every time. I have never played an FPS inverted. But if I'm in the cockpit of an aircraft, thumbstick down should always be up. I get so disoriented otherwise. I can't play it any other way.

I play inverted and have used the exact same explanation to friends, but by the same logic you and I should also invert the horizontal axis too. I blame it on too many flying games with a joystick at an early age, coupled with Goldeneye of course.

If you go by his explanation, pretend you're holding a camera with your thumb on the back. To move the lens right, you move your thumb left. I really doubt he has it that way; right-to-left inversion is extremely uncommon compared to top-to-bottom inversion. Cheers for likely debunking his explanation haha.

Heh, I sent you guys a private message right before this video. If you guys have room for room scale at whatever shared space you use, let me send you my Vive. Boat un-missed.

I have always played inverted. For me it was because the first 3D games I ever played were flight sims. I had a lame little joystick for the PC that looked like an Atari controller. Ever since then I couldn't shake the idea of pulling up or pushing down like a fighter plane. What really boggles my mind are my friends who have everything default, but they want the flight controls inverted in games that have both like Battlefield.

Andrew Brown

Also are you inverted left to right

Ibrahim Sozer

$50k stretch goal confirmed "crazy pants" tier

I was wondering if you guys will make a presence in youtube gaming to help expand your fan base. I know the twitch subscribers will be upset but you can focus on the twitch chat and have youtube gaming as an option to stream.

Ibrahim Sozer

HAH Freakin' love ya Mr. Jones.

ZatVunDoot

Know any venue where the fans can bug MetaCritic to add your reviews? Or is it literally a quantity / time issue? Let us know; having your name on MetaCritic (or even GameRankings) could potentially provide a big boost for viewership. There may be GT fans that don't know about you guys, and some people may never hear from you otherwise (I think I found out about your reviews in particular on GameRankings many years ago; would never have gone to a "Trailer" site for game reviews otherwise). Cheers

https://shop.spreadshirt.com/easyallies/

Can you add a direct link to your merch page on the patreon page? Or am I missing something?

Dale Payne

"It's cool that we are all living on this crazy blue ball flying through the universe playing video games." - Amen!

Can we have the desktop wallpaper?

Mr. Jones, due to your vacation and lack of EZA specific question at the moment, just wanted to comment on a couple of things. Even though you probably won't read these until post-vacation, have fun! Also, I'm sure this was completely unintentional, but I noticed the Stormtrooper aiming directly at the camera the moment you began talking about scoring trailers. Thought it was serendipitous. Finally, Thank You very much for taking my question! Wasn't expecting it and it has made my evening! Again, enjoy yourself and looking forward to your return.

Brandon K Gann

Are any of the Allies planning to make an appearance at VidCon?

I imagine the next episode as Coaster of Jones, both because it's a little placeholder put there for while you're gone instead of a full fledged episode, but also because you'll be in Florida riding them roller coasters! Every cup needs a coaster sometimes.

MBUN

I play inverted because of one reason: Star Fox. When I played Star Fox on the SNES for the first time, I remember the controller settings being inverted (which makes sense for piloting an airwing). Since then, I always invert. I like the explanation from Jones, but the way I see it is that I have an imaginary stick in the characters back. When I pull up on it, my character will look up. If I push up, I will look down. Invert makes the most sense to me when it comes to cameras and FPS shooters!

Hope you guys do a spoilers just played for Dark Souls 3. I just beat it today, and its so good. :)

Peter Wilkinson

If you like thai food, you should try Thai Silk in Orlando. I went there in November of 2014 and loved it!

Another great Episode, Brandon! If International shipping isn't too much I'll send you a mug with my favourite English Football team on it to that P.O. Box :D Also, I play Inverted too!

Your inversion makes a lot more sense to me now that you have explained that. Makes me feel less prejudice thanks for that.

Also the 'bungie want you to learn xxx' argument is invalid, since they test and set your inversion based on which option lights you look at first when they're calibrating the freshly dethawed Master Chief in halo for instance.

I've always thought of the controller stick in terms of your neck. If you tilt your head back you see above you, if you tilt forward, you see below.

Team Invert signing in here. I honestly think it's about where we place our sense of self, either in our eyes (non invert, pivoting on the eyeball) or in our heads (invert, pivoted on the neck).

The first fifteen was a great show, Would Kyle and Huber or anyone on the easy allies cast be willing to bring that back?

Joey and Cait

I loved the inverted section! It really depends on the game for me. I just tend to stray towards whatever the default is and adapt to it.

Good choice on the Buffy boxset!

Hey, my sister's name is Datherine! (but for real, it's just a nickname)

I play inverted, and have done so since i first played a shooter, and I catch crap from people a lot.

Sam Robinson

Not a big deal at all, but for future reference my name is pronounced Caleb, but with a D :)

Where can I get that wallpaper?

I NEED TO KNOW! Team CAP or Team IRON MAN?!?!?

Will you cut out shows if your patreon's money drop significantly (hopefully it won't happen)?

havik

Is there any place we can get an audio version of Cup of Jones? If not can we possibly have an audio version on soundcloud? I'd love to listen on the go without having a video eat my battery life on my phone.

Ben Metal

This show is so perfect for patreon - producer relationship. I always feel so taken care of as a patreon. Keep it exactly as it is Brandon.

Inverted is the way to go!

It's not backing out the last minute in many cases. It's just the payments getting declined for whatever reason, and there's a few days for patrons to update their payment options. -Blood

Easy Allies

You can absolutely learn to play non inverted, it would just take a lot of practice and getting used to.

#Inverted4Life

I was good at goldeneye, then I went over to my nephew to complete a mission he couldn't handle (train). The controls were all fucky and I had to relearn how to play that game. I still completed it for him but now that I think back on it it was because he played on inverted..

P.Visser

So your invert is my default I guess. Try playing a flight sim for instance. I'm pretty sure you have to press down to take off. And that's the default control scheme. I've played like this all my life.

Are you trying to get some more media coverage in any way? Because you should. Give interviews to different gaming sites, visit some well-known people and their game shows or podcasts, and just generally make EZA more known to more people. The E3 season is soon upon us, so people will propably visit more gaming sites during those days and weeks. Your Patreon numbers would appreciate it.

Ville Ranto

Also, a question (or thought, no answer needed) for a future CoJ or just to marinate on: how would you feel about keeping track of all the equipment, software, etc. that you use that patrons (or fans in general) can see, that you can update from time to time, etc? There's the transparency aspect I guess although I think we all trust you so that's not my angle, but it might be cool to know just how much is involved in the day to day work you do, like what equipment you need for your various streams (for ppl who might want to stream their own stuff), just how much went into the fancy new PC (e.g. for ppl who want to build their own). Keeping a list might be easier to point to than just answering what software you use every time someone randomly asks on a stream or whatever.. I can see how it would be a pain to compile initially though and maybe it'd be of limited interest, it was just something that struck me when you were building the PC that hey, it'd be really cool to know exactly what they put in there.

Bradley Spies

Jones, important question: Star Wars, or Star Trek?

Totally with you on the inverted (usually... I think it might have to do with sensitivity whether I use it or not but I can never figure it out, just goes by feel). For me it's more thinking in terms of flying but same concept.

Bradley Spies

What are some youtube channels or websites you guys get most inspired by?

Being an inverted player on the Y axis makes sense with the camera analogy, not the with the X though. And if you invert X, then yeah, I'm with Brad, you're a freak.

Can you give us a brief update on the retrospectives.

Ratchet & Clank came inverted so it's just always seemed right to invert Y. Glad I'm not the only one who has to change it in every game!

Trammin’ Kirk

With Brad Ellis doing the review for Overwatch is there a chance that he, and some of the other Allies that don't regularly review games, will review more games in the future?

I really hope EZA hits the 50K mark so the studio gets here, but I can't watch the numbers anymore. Does EZA penalize the people who back out at the last minute? I hope they don't get their perks. That's just obnoxious.

Have you considered streaming to YouTube to gain more of a Passer by Audience on YouTube?

Well, there goes my answer to the inversion question I made for L&R. Thank you Jones!

Inverted, gulp. My jaw honestly dropped. I think it would be really cool in the future to sit a 360 degree camera right in the center of your Tuesday group stream and capture an entire session, we could look around the room like we are there and see the room from all angles. How cool would that be?

Jones I feel your pain, I inverted from about the age 12 through PC gaming and Golden eye (using the shoulder button to aim!) about 4 years ago I trained myself out of it and am now free of invertedness, it was too much hassle changing controls when sharing with friends etc!

My name is missing at the 10:30 mark. (insert crying face here) But still cool to hear you read off my name.

Hey Brandon! Inversion seems like a dumb thing to hold against someone. Similar to looking down on someone for liking the colour orange. How dare you! Blue is the only way! Embrace the lords of blue you heretic! Also, I'm thinking that defaults have less to do with the "intended experience" of the developer and more to do with how the majority of players play the game. If the majority of players used inverted Y, you can bet it would become the default. Have a great trip!

International Patron here! Canadian by way of the UK at the moment. Getting my Cup of Jones while I brush my teeth before bed. Enjoy the happiest place on earth!

I'm inverted too, I always been. Ace combat thought me that. Not an huge deal till Halo came out: everybody hated me during couch multiplayer sessions. Brofist Jones.

Yup, inversion all the way for me. Never really understood why but that camera explanation makes a shed load of sense. Thank you Brandon. Have fun at DW.

Try being Southpaw. They don't even have southpaw options in most games.

Yaayyyyyy

See You When I Get There

Such a touching love story. Lightning is a great girl to be with you through all those hard times! Love EZA thanks for everything!

I totally agree about Walt Disney World. I never tire of that place!! ENJOY~!

What happens if you hit $50k a month, get the studio , then the number drops? Will mobsters break your knees? I don't want mobsters to break your knees.
