Community Comments Video - April 2016

Here's our first video highlighting our favorite Patron comments (from our $10 and above Patrons) for the month of April. It's been a great first month! Thank you to everyone that sponsored and spoke up!

EDIT: To post a comment for next month's video, look for a separate post just for $10 and above Patrons. Apologies for the confusion around this post. If you've already made a comment (and are a $10 Patron), please copy and paste it into the other post I'm about to make.

Community Comments Video - April 2016

Great job! This video must have taken an awe inspiring amount of effort to make!

Barnstar

You lost me at +10:00. Too much.

this was great!

Max Miller

thanks for showcasing community opinions like this - I'm interested in seeing how this segment evolves over a few months. going forward, would you consider including the commenter in the VO or otherwise clearly delineating a new comment? some of them ran together a bit in listening.

Ray Aldiar

Brandon mentioned in the last episode there won't be one due to him going to Disneyland.

The Hashtagonist

Loved the video! Thank god you didn't include my stupid comment😉 will make a better one this month

Brandon, where is Cup of Jones? I'm dying from dehydration here.

Ha! Stupid me got this video and the 20+ Q&A confused. I won't make that mistake again!

César Villa

Excellent video Brandon! Very enjoyable.

Yeah that was my comment! It's VERY important that the Allies and ALL Americans know that I think they're neither Dirty or Stinking....I did it all for the lols. Donald Trump is pretty dirty though......and stinking.

Adam Mullany

Is there a due-by date to post the comments under the new post?

Personally, I found some of the comments boring, but some of them were really interesting, not just "I can't wait for this game."

Joseph Caruso

I created a separate post for our $10 Patrons to submit comments for the next video in May: <a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/community-may-5389846.">https://www.patreon.com/posts/community-may-5389846.</a> Apologies for initially telling you to post those comments here. I was tired. - Brandon

OMG I LOVE Burnout 3 (and Revenge). To this day, no racing game has done it for me because the controls in those games were just utterly sublime and now everything feels too loose, too tight, and/or delayed. I remember the actual reason I bought Burnout 3 was because it had custom soundtracks. I miss custom soundtracks that are actually incorporated into the game. What I would pay for options like selecting a custom soundtrack for a particular area, screen, or event. I'm not surprised about Sean Murray working on both Burnout 3 and Joe Danger because they both have sublime controls - it just feels good to play those games.

I'm sure most of us adults can't devote the frequent multi-hour long videogame play sessions we used to as children, so sometimes it's hard to stay focused on a videogame. This phenomenon is compounded by having more options than ever in our videogame and overall entertainment choices. However, while I was subscribed to gamefly, a videogame rental service, I noticed that I was often forcing myself to stay focused on one or two videogames at a time so I could get more value out of my monthly subscription. Currently I'm all over the place in my videogame playing habits, and part of me yearns for those time constraints because I was able to stay invested and focused on a campaign. Perhaps what this means is that the majority of games I'm playing just aren't sucking me in. I can want to love The Witcher 3, but if everything else is distracting me, then perhaps it just isn't for me and I shouldn't force it.

Hahahaha this video was spectacular; easily one of the best! Some of these comments were very thought-provoking, others were just deep in meaning, and some were just down, outright hilarious. I also feel famous in my own world since this is the fourth time Brandon Jones has ever read my comment on a video; first time was as usak90 on GT, second on Cup of Jones, third on Community Q&amp;A, and this is the fourth. However, it would be a lot cooler if you actually just responded to my inquiry about the comic book as opposed to just reading the inquiry itself xD . Now I'm really looking forward to these videos in the future! Awesome job EZA dudes! P.S. I can't believe one of the patrons actually referred to EZA as dirty, stinking Americans. I almost fell out of my chair in laughter with that one!

Here's a scoop for you all, if you pre ordered overwatch on PSN you would be promised early access for you and a friend. EXPLICITLY. However now that early access has begun I have access to the beta but no friend code, I've reached out to SONY and they say it's BLIZZARDs responsibility, well when I reach out to BLIZZARD they tell me it's in SONY's hands. Checking reddit, this seems to be the experience everyone who bought through PSN is going through. Not cool Sony/BLizzard being unable to deliver on advertised deals

This month I finally beat Dark Souls. I started it several times over the years never getting much further than the Undead Berg. However I did it but we all know it's dangerous to go alone and I had help. I had the help of our wonderful community here who encouraged and helped me greatly. I have to shout out to @Kristen59, @queballwithears, @tallguyalec, @av8orgamer and mostly @beatendownbrian for their help and support. I love our community and feel extremely proud to be a part of it. Love and Respect Chris (MachineandSoul)

This is such an awesome way to show what the community is talking about. Giant thumbs up.

I really don't know who this video is for. I love the EZA crew, those are the guys I want to see. No disrespect to the community, but I don't know any of those commenters and I don't really know why I should be interested... love and respect anyway!

I like this segment, even though it might be a tad long. It's fun to hear other people's opinions and what games there are passionate about.

I recently learned that Sean Murray, the Managing Director at Hello Games, was the Lead Programmer at Criterion Games when they made Burnout 3, the undisputed champion of arcade racers. Burnout 3 came out during a time when racing games tiptoed around vehicle damage like a teenager sneaking out of the house on a school night. In most racing games you could collide head on with another car at 200 mph and you might scratch the fender. Burnout 3 not only let you demolish every car on the road, but it encouraged you to do so. It was road rage at its finest. If anybody is going to make a new Road Rash, it should be Hello Games. Learning this about Sean Murray has moved my excitement level for No Man's Sky from "I've got goose bumps" to "hey look, my nipples are really hard."

I would like to second this. I ask questions on nearly all videos, and have not had one read yet. It has made me look at the comments that do get answered, and now i'm looking to try and write something that you would want to answer, rather than something I actually want to ask. I think you need to look at a broader range of questions, or just answer one of mine :&gt;

Overall the video was nice, though i think you need to change it up how you choose your comments in the future. I say this because you say comments should be focused and concise (though some of the comments that made it into the video weren't) but the problem with that is not everyone is great at writing and can articulate their thoughts in a well structured manner. You risk alienating many patrons and their comments. The fact that the main perk of the $10 tier of patrons is that there is a possibility of patron's comments getting chosen to be in the video you really should be including more comments and more variety of comments to be quite honest. I say this because i hadn't thought that comments needed to be written in that manner because i certainly didn't get that vibe based on how your worded it in your first community post. I'm not saying that i'm angry that my comment wasn't chosen but hey who wouldn't be disappointed but there were many comments i had read that i was sure would have made it into this video. I didn't want to be THAT GUY but i do think you need to think about how you choose your comments because as it is right now i feel that the $10 tier of patrons right now are being a little short changed with the current selection process especially since its only once a month you will be making this type of video. But hey that's just my opinion, oh on another note to end there were many questions chosen that were based on the same topic i.e final fantasy.

Bakryu

Jones is in Disneyland!

The Hashtagonist

Feeling the love &amp; respect for the patrons ;) Great show and really looking forward to the next one.

Mumble Mumbleton

Where is cup of jonesy?

Angelo Torres

Oh my God my comment was featured read by Jones :D!

Hesperus84

YES! Finally, someone who shares my love for Otogi.

I'd never thought I'd hear Brandon Jones say the words "the porn is pretty great too"

I got so giddy when Brandon read my comment lol

Oscar Magana

I'm totally game for a Dragon Quest Retrospective! Do it, pretty please 0:)

Are there any genre of game that you think, "Oh no, we could never stream that."?

Sam Sorensen

I have never played a Souls game. I played through Bloodborne for the first time this year after abandoning it after defeting Rom last year. I LOVE NIOH! I have played through the demo three times, once only using swords. There is something about the atmosphere, the music, the seting and the enemies that just feels so good that i don´t think i have gotten from a game for quite some time. Needless to say i have found something to be hyped about.

I actually did that for MGSV as I wasn't a fan of GoTP. I was pleasantly surprised.

Frederick G.

Allies, please stream the Otogi games! It has something for almost all of you. Great sword gameplay for Huber, responsive From Software controls for Ian, RPG elements for Brad, lots of unlockables for Bloodworth, a fully destructible enviroment for Brandon, a Japanese princess for Ben, and lots of double jumps for Kyle! It's also easy to see the origins of some of gameplay mechanics in the Souls series in these amazing games.

Chip Damage Mike

No offense Huber (I love the guy) but sometimes I think one of the best way to enjoy video games is avoid the hype. Over the last year I have found a great way to do this. Don't play games on launch day. Wait, read the reviews, but avoid the spoilers. Then later down the road once the dust has settled, play the game. For example, just now am I playing Batman: Arkham Knight. You know what? I absolutely love the game. Gone are the gripes about the bugs and anger over the season pass with little DLC. I am just enjoying the game and it feels like an undiscovered treasure.

Daniel Ray

I will leave a more thoughtful and full comment later in the month as I experience games to come but there is a discrepancy I wish to quickly point out. This video is open to everyone and you ask for their comments here, but you say the same for $10 patrons. I know it says there are other places to ask questions, but since it is THIS video specifically, please forgive: Will there be a post for these patrons or are you opening it up for everyone? Just wanted to call your attention to it. Great video and I really enjoyed hearing everyone's thoughts!

I would love to see more mini-podcast shows like Brandon Plays Pokemon. You can do it with other crew members and other high profile franchises they have yet to play. Keep up the great work guys.

This was a very cool idea guys, and even more well implemented than I expected. Thank you for taking the time to read our comments, and listen to our opinions.

Brandon Patton

This is great guys

I've been playing Dark Souls 3 and mainly it's solid gameplay that has hooked me like 2 did. It seems that many of the games the Allies love are very story driven and in some way focus on emotional moments, heavy on character connections. I often feel that these kinds of discussions are missing from the podcast and other shows. The focus on mechanics, gameplay loop and moment to moment action and not story beats and characters. Otherwise keep it up, love and respect.

Really great stuff everyone!

I've been working on a YouTube game reviewer video project, set to launch in June. As I'm writing the script(s), I'm learning what it means to be a concise game critic. Sometimes the problem you want to highlight in your review the most is the same one you have to leave behind in favor of a much more important point of criticism. It ain't easy, but after watching YouTube game reviewers for eight years, I think it's a challenge worth conquering.
