Game Sleuth (D-Files) Update #3

I don't mind name Game Sleuth as a main show but I think D-Files can go along as a "D file category" when you open the Drawers filled with FILES. :)

Big thumbs up on the name change. Game Sleuth sound better and more original than D-Files. I could go for something like G-Files (Game Files), but Game Sleuth is better.

The name is cool. I was late to GT and feel weird watching stuff on there, like i'm supporting someone else. So I'm totally down for re-runs. Also whoever you can affiliate with to get your stuff out there is great. It doesn't sound like you would let them affect the show. These updates are interesting too, thanks.

You need a new mic, the sound is really bad in the streams as well. Looking forward seeing the first episode though. Never watched the old show so it'll be interesting to see if I like it. I like the premiss at least.

Liked D-Files, simply because I'm a huge X-Files fan. But I absolutely think Game Sleuth is a much better name for a show (I think it actually gives it a better shot at becoming popular outside of Easy Allies. So drawing in new fans/subs). Like you said, D-Files is specific to you (so only the fan base would get it). So great decision. Game Sleuth is actually an amazing name.

I also want to second some of the concerns about the external posting of the episodes. Like others, I don't care that much about exclusivity - but I do care about Easy Allies branding. Regardless of whatever else you choose to do with this show, I hope it’s posted on the Easy Allies youtube page. And I hope that each episode is clearly branded as Easy Allies so there’s no confusing who’s responsible for the content. If Game Sleuth isn’t posted to EZA’s youtube page, then as a Patron, it does feel a bit weird to be funding a show for another channel. Could this perhaps be some sort of temporary deal with the other outlet? Like they get the first few episodes, then it’s back to EZA?

So, I understand that some non-native English speakers are having some gripes about 'Sleuth'. But Damiani, please don't change it - at least not to "Game Detective". Game Detective sounds like a little kids show.

As a non native speaker I have never heard the term "Sleuth". I think Game Detective would have been better, but still, at least we know its about games now.

I understand where you're coming from completely, however some sort of extra external exposure is definitely worth a shot. I think whatever website it goes to should have some sort of promotional code or something they can put at the end of the video for Easy Allies, that way they will have a metric to assess, and it will be much clearer to see how many extra subscribers this deal brings to Easy Allies...

Question and I think it's something really important. I actually don't really care if Patrons get access to your content first or not, the reason I donated to Easy Allies is help promote the success of easy allies and if your videos aren't going to be part of the easy allies youtube page I don't think it supports that at all. I don't mind videos going elsewhere but if they aren't going to be publicly accessible as part of the easy allies channels then I'd be really disappointed and don't see it as something in the interest of EZA to effectively lose content its funding. Maybe that wasn't what you meant and that it would be publicly available on both, hope you can clarify!

bet lost :) - Finnish here, and I've used sleuth in a sentence more than once before.

Not a big fan of the name to be honest. You have an international audience, and I'm willing to bet that no non native english speaker knows that sleuth is another word for detective. I have a pretty good grasp on the english language and I had no idea what it was, let alone how to pronounce it.

All the non-English allies just learned a new word :-)

I wasn't trolling about the VG Fact Checkerz! Mega64 is what introduced me to Pop Fiction and ultimately GameTrailers. That being said, I don't know if another collaboration would work great specifically for Game Sleuth, but I'd love to see something happen with Easy Allies and Mega64.

Thanks for saying to not listen to "people who say it was done already". There has been a lot of times where I wanted to do something and then somebody said "done already", so I decided not to do it. Then I see somebody else do it and it wasn't a dud. Guess, I have to listen to my inner voice more :)

I agree with Logan Tawse. I was kinda hoping you would do a commentary on Zelda/NX state. There were tons of us on twitter requesting EZA do a short video commentary on it. Damiani your great on camera, you can easily do one of those one man commentary videos like other youtubers. Maybe you can use the name D-Files on this proposed show.

Gonna be on Game Theory channel i'm calling it. MatPat is a known fan and he's already has some collaborators that are all about gaming history and love.

Have you considered some day down the road doing another show that isn't necessarily like Pop-Fiction? I don't say this as if I dislike the idea for Game Sleuth, because I loved PF back in the day and I am really looking forward to GS, but just wondering if you ever wanted to expand your horizons a little. This is more like months and months down the road, once you've got GS going.

I'm all for EZA getting more exposure from a different channel. As long as it ends at its home with EZA in the end a friendly mutually beneficial partnership is a smart idea.

On board with the name change! I remember during E3, Craig from ScrewAttack came onto the live stream and was talking about how much he loved PopFiction and how he wanted to get a show like it made again for their channel. Just reminded of that when I heard mention of multiple people trying to get you to make a new PopFiction :) The content sharing idea seems strange in the land of YouTube, but exposing more people to EZA is always a great thing. (EDIT: D'oh, I posted this before listening to the rest of the video! DYKG seems like it'd be a PERFECT fit considering their channel always features guest appearances, and they have various other spin-off shows!)

I have not seen the episode yet, but i think D-Files was better name. Edit: I already liked the new name it just hard to pronounce it if english is not your language :)
