Patron Dungeons & Dragons - Group 1, Session 1

Why hi there. Some of you are probably already aware of this, but every month we have a special Dungeons & Dragons session with patrons that donated $200 or more. We had to split the patrons up into two groups and this video is the first session of group one. The video is permanently exclusive for all patrons of Easy Allies.

I had a lot of fun playing with people outside of the regular crew and I was thrilled that everyone really got into their characters. Upon rewatching the video, I noticed that I probably took too many liberties and inserted myself into the game too much. I just wanted to create fun situations and kickstart the adventure, but I definitely overdid it. I apologize. Anyway, we're shooting group two tomorrow and you'll see that video sometime in the near future. Thanks!

Just finished watching this and it was fun! But the next episode is 1 month away whaat? I hope all you guys can make it.

Mikko Koponen

I love this! D&D is that kind of game I automatically love without having ever played it. Just can't find a group...

Miguel Pires Ramos

don't let the fear or something imaginary hold you back from something that could be real. having said that it seems like being DM is a ton of work so I totally understand the apprehension. Good luck to you and your friends!

Mango

Just watched this. That was some hilarious hijinks. I always want to play D&D with my group of friends. They have expressed interest. Problem is even though I've never played D&D myself, I am still there most knowledgeable about the game, which makes me default GM. I'm just worried I wouldn't be able to make it as fun as it seems on these streams.

cool stuff, regarding your last comment Ben I noticed even with the regular Tabletop Escapades crew this season you seem to be a lot more into telling the characters things that they are or should be as opposed to asking them or giving them options. Prefer to let the characters develop themselves and how they see fit as opposed to the DM telling them how to do so.

Maybe I should look into that then. What would be a good microphone/headset to get?

Simon Andersson

That was a lot of fun. The group seems really nice and got into their characters and the story really well. It would be nice to have leveled audio though. Maybe check if everyone could get the same style in-expensive microphone/headset; just for continuity. It is impossible to listen to on headphone.. Also where is Ben!? These guys paid $200 a month, and all they get is Ben audio? That's so mean.

Godfrey was a nice mix to the troupe! Well done!

Hesperus84

I was terrified but in the end I had a great time! You were a great DM, Ben. Many of us were new so a good nudge is what we needed. -Saeara

Thank you, all of you top tier patrons! We're all together for EZA , have a great time.

The dedication BEN!

Glad we got to hear this session too. Everyone did a really good job, especially those playing for the first time. The table cleaning part cracked me up, so extra props to you good sir.

MBUN

Really good to see this get off the ground, everyone seems really cool, look forward to the rest of it.

Rhys Simons

Nice! Great work! Though I don't recall everybody saying what their alignments were.

Parasitepaladin

I enjoyed how you ran the game deeply, Ben. Just would love if we could see you next time we play if possible. And thanks to anyone who watched our silliness! - Godfrey

Rick Argomaniz

After watching the whole episode, I'm slightly jealous! Always wanted to play D&D but never got a chance. I love how Godfrey is essentially a stereotypical clumsy wizard hahah. Well done guys. Looking forward to episode 2 and the first session of group 2! I have a question, if a patreon drop out and another patreon goes for the $200 tier, will they continue the character or develop a new character and jump in? Not sure how D&D works in this situation.

Hesperus84

Great first show guy's keep up the good work

great job guys :)

Great jolly Patron D&D ! To quote Starship Troopers "Would you like to know more" (yes I do!)

"Why all the weapons" - Pillet

you guys are living the dream :)

same world yes.

As someone who never D&D'd before I really liked the nudges from the DM. Pillet4L

You didn't overdo it at all ben! It was interesting to watch and you were like a guide. You have awesome DM skills. Although I wish there was a different platform to Google hangouts.. I'm not sure if there is one. Where like you can have the screen with all the people in view at the same time and not always the way it does in hangouts where it jumps from one speaker to the next? But great job with the patreons!

Hesperus84

Ben, I dont understand any of your self criticism. I think you did a remarkable job. If anything, I would suggest that you guide the players even more. I know you want to give everyone as much freedom as possible but giving them the feeling of going on a complete adventure is not to be under appreciated. Instead of giving people the onus to act like in the tavern, or the gave.....guiding them by stating "there is a mysterious figure at the bar" or have a creature or character come out of nowhere in the cave. I love your DM skills. I have never played DND, but you have single-handedly made me want to start my own campaign. :)

I wasn't able to watch it so forgive me, but I hope that these groups have an impact on the world the EZA group is in, that would be super neato. Once again, haven't watched it so forgive me if that's already obvious

Major props for pulling this off Ben. You could DM a trip to the grocery store and make it interesting.

Gan Khef

I must say, I completely admire this. I am constantly impressed with the devotion and love that you guys at EZA have for your supporters and fans. This is part of the reason why I closely followed you on GT and why I decided to become a patron, myself. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and concerns. I believe I can speak for everyone here when I say that we will do everything we can to give back, even if it's just a small portion, of the respect and care you have given to us over the years and beyond. The greatest love and the highest respect to you, Allies.

Would be a good idea to make sure everyone has headphones next time to minimize the amount of feedback from the mic. Just to make it more enjoyable to listen to. Anyway, I've just started listening, but I look forward to this adventure :)

Andrew Chalmers

Great idea broadcasting this, nice idea...

Steven

I didn' think that too, that you gonna put it online. Great!

Oh wow, cool, I knew about the sessions, but didn't thought it was gonna be available for us to watch, happy and about to watch, yay another D&D show, :)
