BUILD ME!
Added 2016-04-02 18:53:14 +0000 UTC
This Tuesday, 6 PM PT on Twitch.tv/EasyAllies, this PC gets built. What's the first thing we should play on it? What mouse/keyboard combo should we get? You (our Patrons) helped us purchase each and every part of this beautiful machine. Thank you. Hopefully our games and streams will now be smooth sailing straight into the sun.
(Getting our Intel Core i7-6700K on Monday, FYI).

Is this going to be on the Youtube channel?

2016-04-06 18:37:49 +0000 UTC
my 2 cents on mouse and keyboard which may be a bit late, but R.A.T. mouse wired, and the Corsair mechanical keyboard. Oh, and you want a good mouse pad: Razor Hard mouse pad
2016-04-05 16:04:42 +0000 UTC
Must be nice, since I could barely understand what most of that stuff is

2016-04-04 17:51:55 +0000 UTC
Quantum Break on Ultra? HECK YES.
2016-04-04 17:12:31 +0000 UTC
Minesweeper!!!!!!!!
2016-04-04 16:21:20 +0000 UTC
The first game you guys should play on this beast is Carmen Sandiego.
2016-04-04 14:57:45 +0000 UTC
Awesome build, can't wait to see what you guys product from this machine. Personally would use an NVMe SSD but for gaming it wouldn't make much difference.
2016-04-04 13:07:39 +0000 UTC
I love my Razer Deathadder mouse, it is weighted well and the clickiness of the mouse buttons is very satisfying. Also, hard to go wrong with a Corsair K70 RGB keyboard. The back lighting effects are gorgeous

2016-04-04 12:47:20 +0000 UTC
dark souls 3 would be a great way to break the pc in :)
2016-04-04 12:32:18 +0000 UTC
A group Minesweeper on the hardest difficulty with stakes!
2016-04-04 12:20:59 +0000 UTC
Why spend $500 on a mainboard? You could have easily saved 250-300 bucks there and gotten that 980 Ti instead. Rest of the build is great. Is that 3200 Mhz RAM?
2016-04-04 10:32:56 +0000 UTC
Why not 980 Ti? because 200$ more? but its much better for the future.
2016-04-04 06:34:34 +0000 UTC
Honestly don't care about PC gaming, no disrespect :D
2016-04-04 06:16:31 +0000 UTC
Do a video on Star Citizen!

I second Minesweeper, the anticlimax will be glorious.

Tip for mouse: Logitech mx-518, I've never used a better gaming mouse. It's just perfect in your hand with exactly the right amount of buttons. No bloat, just practical.
2016-04-03 21:10:47 +0000 UTC
Minesweeper

2016-04-03 20:25:20 +0000 UTC
Hitman, Ashes of Singularity would be graphic intensive recent games I am interested in taking a look at. Grim Dawn is also a good game I recommend playing. A very good gaming mouse is the Mionix Naos 7000, I definitely recommend it. If you want a good mechanical keyboard with silent switches, I'd say the Corsair Strafe RGB is a good but expensive choice.
2016-04-03 18:12:34 +0000 UTC
Excellent point about assessing performance and i5/970. Cheers :)
2016-04-03 17:59:10 +0000 UTC
I second this!
SuperAfroBoy
2016-04-03 17:46:07 +0000 UTC
Hmm maybe I am lucky. For 8 years I have been using the same Razer Deathadder, Razer Destructor and Razer Lycosa.
2016-04-03 17:21:47 +0000 UTC
Oh also, get the Steelseries Apex keyboard it's awesome. Mouse I'm on the search for a good one myself. Had a SteelSeries Kana and now a Razer Deathadder Chrome and not fully satisfied with either. The scroll wheel on my Deathadder is skippy and it's only been like 6 months since I bought it.
2016-04-03 17:14:44 +0000 UTC
Curious as to why you'd get a GTX980 instead of 2 GTX 970 in SLi. Gaming in 4k? Get everyone on their laptops running the new Doom and frag the hell out of each other ;)
2016-04-03 17:12:08 +0000 UTC
How about an RTS (a fast paced one, of course). I know that PC strategy games was kind of Matt's forte, but I'm sure the rest of you guys, and the viewers could have some fun with something like Helldivers or Homeworld. In any case I'm sure it will be quality watching.
2016-04-03 14:13:57 +0000 UTC
Stream Trackmania Turbo, a criminally underrated game that flies under the radar due to small marketing budget. It will be hilarious to see 2 players driving the same car, lots of crashes and maybe even build the world's first EZA track.
2016-04-03 13:12:17 +0000 UTC
Don't go advising switches, that's way too personal. And they probably will not all like it, so they need to either vote or take the one that's least offensive to most.
2016-04-03 13:05:40 +0000 UTC
Or a live stream.
2016-04-03 13:03:47 +0000 UTC
1v1 Hearthstone tournament. Random decks only. One player on a laptop the other on the new pc. Get everyone playing.
2016-04-03 12:17:45 +0000 UTC
As for the first game, I suggest Vermintide.
For the keyboard I recommend anything with MX Red switches. They feel great for me, but everybody is different...

Maybe a little bit late but as a PC Gamer ever since I strongly recommend Logitech products. My G15 and G7 are still running and I never expected that to be the case. I already know what I will buy if those components give up service. Here is my advice for you guys. Mouse: G502 Proteus Spectrum and keyboard: G710, The Logitech mouspad G440 hardcover is also very good. If you do not like Logitech, I would go for Corsair products. just my two cents ;) P.S: good choice of components so far ;)
2016-04-03 09:41:51 +0000 UTC
It would be fun to have a video of you building the desktop =D
2016-04-03 09:04:58 +0000 UTC
This makes me want to build another PC, =( too bad can only do it once.
2016-04-03 08:25:30 +0000 UTC
Hey you guys got the same graphics card as me! Woop!
2016-04-03 07:39:31 +0000 UTC
Any chance of VR? Did any of the Allies order a Rift or Vive?
2016-04-03 07:13:53 +0000 UTC
Half Life 2 in celebration.
Avoid razer products. They may look and feel amazing, but they break down pretty quickly.
2016-04-03 06:27:26 +0000 UTC
I just bought a Logitech G502 and absolutely love it. For the first game play csgo with fellow allies.
Nicholas Braley
2016-04-03 05:03:34 +0000 UTC
So are you guys building it on stream on Monday?
Ben Metal
2016-04-03 02:50:38 +0000 UTC
Too bad the new Doom is still over a month away, that would probably look amazing on that rig.
Derrick DesRoches
2016-04-03 02:27:56 +0000 UTC
Well I recommend a Logitech G502 mouse along with any mechanical keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switches.
2016-04-03 01:54:29 +0000 UTC
Michael Huber. Starcraft. Make. It. Happen.
2016-04-03 01:50:24 +0000 UTC
Get chroma mouse and keyboard :D preeettyyy colourssssssss

2016-04-03 01:40:18 +0000 UTC
Nice choices. This looks pretty close to my build actually. Wait, GTX 980... not a Ti? JK that's overkill if you're not going above 1080p.

What about the Planet Coaster Alpha :)
2016-04-03 00:35:58 +0000 UTC
You may want to consider a higher power supply. With a GTX 980 you are going to be right on the edges of what that 750w can handle
2016-04-02 23:45:52 +0000 UTC
6700k and a 980, nice
2016-04-02 22:59:51 +0000 UTC
MUST BE NICE, and play Hyper light drifter, gorgeous game, souls gameplay and difficulty.

MUST BE NIIIIICE!
PS: I Love ya <3
2016-04-02 22:39:50 +0000 UTC
Any chance of getting a full list of parts posted?
Brandon Patton
2016-04-02 22:28:05 +0000 UTC
There is only one true benchmark for a pc since 2007: Can it run Crysis on Max? Do it! And i'm talking Crysis 1 here, the newer ones are less demanding, ironicly.
2016-04-02 22:10:00 +0000 UTC
This is just not true at all. For shame.
2016-04-02 21:51:36 +0000 UTC
I am glad that you went with GTX980 instead of something like Titan X or ever 980Ti, which are unaffordable for 95% of PC gamers. That will let you assess real world performance and optimization of games that you will be testing. I'd go even cheaper with something like i5 and GTX970, but if this rig will be also used for video editing and rendering, getting better CPU and GPU was not a bad idea.
2016-04-02 21:41:48 +0000 UTC
this should last you a year in the pc world lolz.... i wonder if you could of saved money by getting windows 7 on and just upgraded. best of luck
2016-04-02 21:33:56 +0000 UTC
Must be nice! You definitely should play Minesweeper first, it will be a powerful statement.
2016-04-02 21:32:34 +0000 UTC
Nice setup! Would love to see some Witcher 3 running on that beast
2016-04-02 21:28:45 +0000 UTC
Rise of the Tomb Raider! :P And congrats guys!! Can't wait for Tuesday's stream.
Hesperus84
2016-04-02 21:15:56 +0000 UTC
Solid setup, remember to overclock the 6700K. It simply demands it.
2016-04-02 21:14:47 +0000 UTC
Amazing. Finally you can stream perfectly the most demanding of games. You guys should stream Zork with it :P
2016-04-02 21:07:23 +0000 UTC
Looks super awesome! Unfortunately I'm one of those guys that knows nothing about computers but it all looks good and I'm excited for the Tuesday stream!
2016-04-02 20:59:03 +0000 UTC
Stream Heroes of the Storm! It says so right on the box!
2016-04-02 20:58:04 +0000 UTC
I think a 980 Ti would have been a better choice
2016-04-02 20:57:16 +0000 UTC
Only 1 980? Not even a ti? Should have gotten two at least. But play either The Witcher 3 or Quantum Break.
Fire Safety
2016-04-02 20:44:42 +0000 UTC
Looks great! Could you publish a full list of the parts and models? I'm particularly interested in the game capture stuff. It would also be cool if you could share with up the apps you use. I'm looking forward to Tuesday.
2016-04-02 20:42:31 +0000 UTC
Great picks guys!
2016-04-02 20:34:06 +0000 UTC
in regards to keyboard and mouse, its a prefrence.. if you plan on using the keyboard on streams then maybe stay away from mechanical, they are pretty noisy..
2016-04-02 20:25:21 +0000 UTC
Build for me
Civ
2016-04-02 20:23:14 +0000 UTC
The Witcher cranked should look pretty good. Rise of the Tomb Raider is beautiful, but it's also pretty well optimized. My 970 can run it max on a 1440p monitor. The Witcher is much more demanding.
2016-04-02 20:16:40 +0000 UTC
Quantum break on the pc for the real test. No idea on the keyboard, whatever you like tbh.
2016-04-02 20:16:18 +0000 UTC
Looks like great choices for the components. Congrats!
Isaac King
2016-04-02 20:11:30 +0000 UTC
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a pretty intense test for a new PC, so I vote for that. Max it out and lets see how the new build handles it. <3

Niceeee. Stream some beast games like Red Alert 2.
2016-04-02 19:47:34 +0000 UTC
Strap Michael P Huber into a good blast of DEVIL DAGGERS then trade off for some time rivalries.
2016-04-02 19:44:04 +0000 UTC
Pretty
2016-04-02 19:43:29 +0000 UTC
Why not spend a little bit more and get a 980ti for the improved performance?
2016-04-02 19:41:13 +0000 UTC
looks like a solid choice of components.
2016-04-02 19:38:55 +0000 UTC

I'm very happy with my Ducky Shine keyboard, and I agree that black or red switches are definitely the way to go.
2016-04-02 19:24:53 +0000 UTC
Hyper Light Drifter or XCOM2
2016-04-02 19:24:33 +0000 UTC
Get a Saitek X52 and play Elite: Dangerous! I have a feeling Jones might like it ;)
Volker Bach
2016-04-02 19:23:44 +0000 UTC
Play XCOM2
2016-04-02 19:22:15 +0000 UTC
Just as long as you get a keyboard with either black or red switches, I'm cool with that. Adding on to Matthias comment about left handers, Steelseries mice are generally ambidextrous in design, and they're pretty functional.
2016-04-02 19:19:47 +0000 UTC
Nice choice so far, the Keyboard/Mouse question comes down to preference. I would go for something mechanical in the keyboard department. They are sturdy with great longevity and a nice feel to them. Check out "Das Keyboard Professional 4" or the "Blackwidow Chroma".
Picking the right mouse is even harder, for you i would go with a wired one. Also look at the design, if one of you is left handed you should refrain from most designs who are right handed only (Most of Logitech)
If you need more info just let me know, im happy to provide more :-)

GOTY 2014 of course!

2016-04-02 19:06:51 +0000 UTC
How many of you guys building this? There could be too many cooks in the kitchen for it to run smoothly, lmao.

There's only one right choice.
Oregon Trail.
2016-04-02 19:06:19 +0000 UTC
pumped for this. I haven't built a pc so interested to see how the process goes
2016-04-02 19:04:20 +0000 UTC
I love building my own PCs. What PC case is that? I wish I could've recommended a Fractal Design R5 before you bit the bullet :P
2016-04-02 19:02:51 +0000 UTC
Nice! All good choices there.
2016-04-02 19:02:48 +0000 UTC
Very good build, let Huber play Daying light and compare it with the PS4 version !
2016-04-02 19:02:41 +0000 UTC
I'm salivating because how good that is. how much was that?
2016-04-02 19:02:25 +0000 UTC
Good specs, but you might want to use another OS or use W10 premium, otherwise W10 will force it's updates randomly and shut down your computer at random times
2016-04-02 19:01:59 +0000 UTC
Some great hardware choices. Guessing the RAM is 2x8GB - 3200MHz sticks?
2016-04-02 19:01:38 +0000 UTC
You should play a bunch of 2D platformers out of spite lol

2016-04-02 18:55:43 +0000 UTC
You guys should decide on a keyboard based on personal preference, but I wholeheartedly recommend the Razer DeathAdder for a mouse.
By the way, is that a Fractal case I see? Excellent choices all around. My PC has a lot of the same parts.
2016-04-02 18:55:35 +0000 UTC
