Update 17 Post-Mortem

Hello everybody! Hopefully you all enjoyed Update 17. It's been out for a week now and the response has been very good!

I finished the outline for Update 18 last night and am looking forward to getting started on that, because Update 18 is huge and has a lot of story. We're getting close to the endgame now.

But before I get to that, I want to sort of wrap up and close the book on Update 17 - give you my thoughts on some of the things that happened in it, and maybe respond to some things that have been said about it. Just a little chat. Feel free to ask any questions about Update 17 in the comments as well.

Since I'll be talking about Update 17, there's going to be spoilers below if you haven't had a chance to play it. This is your WARNING:

Okay, so Update 17 did not have any of the main story in it. I know some people are itching to know what happened to Daddy and why we aren't trying harder to get him back. That's all coming. Update 18, 19, and 20 are very focused on the main story. But that also means that they are the end point of the sandbox story that's focused on dating all the girls.

So Update 17 was largely about fitting some sexy scenes in that I wanted to happen before the endgame began. Which means there was a lot of sex, threesomes, and anal.

The Dana/Liz Threesome - Not too much to talk about with this one. I put the hook out there for it earlier. I think most people knew it was coming. I thought it turned out pretty hot. This will likely be the last time we see Liz in the game though.

Suzy/Tammy/Jeremy - This is a scene I've had in mind since I first started the game. I wanted a scene where Suzy is feeling bad and the two of them focus on making her feel as amazing as possible. Somebody asked why I named it Jeremy - well, there is an in-game explanation that will probably come up in a conversation next update. But as far as why RJ named it that - I've been watching entirely too much Phineas and Ferb lately. There's at least two other Phineas and Ferb references in the Update as well. Feel free to point them out if you found them, if I happen to have any other fans in the audience.

Juliana/Izzy - This was probably my favorite scene in the update. For a long time, when somebody asked who my favorite character was, it was Kendra. But in the last few updates, Izzy has stepped ahead a bit. I love writing her. I love her attitude. I just love Izzy. I thought this scene was super hot, and also like how Izzy builds up Juliana. Juliana needs a friend like Izzy.

Adrian/Welch - This scene was just fun. I've always wanted a threesome with these two, so had to squeeze it in there. There's not a whole lot to talk about with it. I thought it was hot, and there's some feelings at the end, when Adrian leaves. I thought it turned out pretty good.

Mills/Dana - This is another scene I've had in mind for a LONG time. Originally, Mills was intended to just be a domme, not a switch. I kind of moved her into more of a switch when I started really getting into writing her and understanding her. Originally, like a lot of my characters, she was kind of 2-dimensional and didn't have a lot of nuance. I think that by this point, she has developed into a full-fledged character though and I understand her a lot more. So I had to do this scene in two different ways. I think both of them turned out really fun. I always like Mrs. Mills as a domme and I think it's fun to have Dana and the MC both on the same level. Same with the version where Mrs. Mills is more of a sub - I like the competitiveness between Dana and Mills here, where Mills tries to stay a rung above Dana, but keeps getting pushed down to the same level. It's just fun power play and I enjoyed writing it a lot.

Brandi - Brandi is a full-on camgirl now. I feel like some people weren't expecting this, but I intended it the whole time. There's been some clashback, but as always, my girls are going to do what they want to do, and you can choose to date them or not, but you can't change them. The chat has also been fun - originally, I didn't plan on having SO much chat in the game. It was just a silly way to fill the space for her shows. But people love the Brandichat, so gradually there have been more and more and some characters who were only ever intended to be jokes have developed their own stories. It's gone in directions I didn't expect and that's always fun.

Bai - Bai runs into Moose and Mal at the park in this update. I think this might have been the funniest scene in the update to me? I giggled a lot while writing it. Moose and Mal are like my Jay and Silent Bob. They're just goofy and fun to write. And this scene hints at a big one that's coming in Update 18.

Jez - I like the idea of putting the most wholesome, heartwarming scene in the update right before some hardcore anal fucking. This scene was cute until it turned really hot. I liked how it turned out.

Lisa/Jez - I struggled with this one a bit, and I think it's kind of obvious in the game. This scene was never really planned, but I did kind of leave a few hints that it could be a possibility earlier, with Lisa commenting on Jez leaving the MC's room, but I wasn't sure if I was actually going to do it or not. Then I left it up to a Patreon vote and you all chose the Lisa/Jez threesome on the poll. So, I put it in. I thought it was hot. I thought Jez hiding under the blanket was fun. But it does feel a little forced. If the game was completely realistic, I don't see these two ever doing anything together. But it's porn, so sometimes you just have to roll with it and enjoy the show.

Izzy/Jackson - This is one I've actually had in mind since the beginning, though at first I wasn't sure if it was going to be Mari or Izzy that was in the scene. I think there would have been some riots if I had Mari do it. Izzy makes more sense. I thought the scene was great. I think it fits what I'm trying to do with Izzy. At this point, she is the MC's girl - she still does what she wants, but she makes sure that the MC knows that when all is said and done, she's going to come back to him and he's always her number one.

The new clothing choice menu - I really liked how this turned out. It was kind of a last-minute addition to the update, but I like it a lot. I am slowly trying to reduce the number of text menus in the game, as I prefer having images to choose things instead. By the time I'm done, all the text menus will be eliminated, except for things like when you're responding in a conversation.

Removing save names & the delete icon - This wasn't really planned either. There was some reports from Android users that they were getting stuck on the save name screen and had to close the game out. I checked it out and sure enough, if you try to save over an Autosave, it will bring up the save name window, but you cannot get out of it. There isn't really a way for me to fix this, and the bug report happened when we had already begun alpha testing, so I decided to go ahead and just remove the save name system for now. I know some people liked it, but others didn't, and personally, I did not really like having to type a name every time I wanted to save the game. I think what is going to happen with the next update is that I will remove the named saves for the Android version, but put it back in the PC version as an option that you can toggle in the Preferences menu, defaulted to Off. So the people who do like it can turn it on and use it.

Voices -

• Lisa has a voice now! I think VoiceLikeCandy did a great job with her. I like Candy a lot and have been talking with her off and on for months and I'm excited that I get a chance to actually work with her.

• Dana has a new voiced scene. Since it's probably her most emotional scene in the game, I kinda wanted it voiced. OolayTiger does a great job with everything, so of course she nailed this one. She's always great to work with.

• I had one more voiced scene planned, but it didn't happen. I really wanted the first Kendra/Adrian threesome planned - the one where Kendra goes over and they play Smash Bros, then smash. I requested voicework from both of my voice actresses for this scene. HaruLuna (Kendra's voice actress) got back to me quickly and I think did a great job on her lines. Adrian's voice actress however, kept telling me that she would get back to me, and just never did. I pushed and pushed, but she's completely flaked out on me at this point. So, my options for this are either 1) Adrian has no more voiced lines. 2) Recast Adrian for new content, which means her voice will not exactly match. Or 3) Recast and redo all of Adrian's voicework. I haven't decided which way I'm going to go yet. It's disappointing though. Anyways, I didn't want to have only Kendra voiced in that scene, so I ended up not putting HaruLuna's voicework in yet either. Hopefully I'll be able to in the future, because I think it's really funny.

Final Thoughts

I think that's pretty much it for Update 17. I have the free release on May 3rd, and I'm planning on doing some bug fixes for that, so I will also be releasing another version of the Patreon release, just to fix those things. I might add the save names back in as a preference at that point, if I feel like it's not going to cause too many issues and we have time to test it.

Other than that, I've fully moved on to Update 18 and starting next week, I'll let you know how that is going and what to expect with it.

I'm taking some time off to go camping and hiking over the next few days, so there won't be any posts until Thursday next week. I'll catch up on bonus images then as well. I think I owe you guys two more before the end of the month.
