April 2022 Update - 1k, New PC, and Burnout

Hello everyone! I has been some times since I sat down and actually told you all what is going on. Let me remedy that today.

Life has been weird and crazy, as it always has. I am honestly still recovering from the events of last year. Moving a ton of times in a short amount of time, getting betrayed by a friend, not to mention the deletion of my channel. YouTube killing JP was incredibly demoralizing and soul crushing. Building up something for 5+ years and finally starting to see it work only for it to be destroyed.

The good news is that we are back to 1,000 subscribers which means monetization is on the horizon! As of writing this update we need 500 more watch hours to be eligible for monetization. This is exciting news! Hopefully with now having 1k+ subs, people will go back and watch all the 3 hour+ videos I have compiling whole playthroughs.

That being said, I have not been working on JP all that much recently. Why is that?

Burnout. I was busting my ass a year ago when we first hit 1k and that passion and your support got us to 10k+. When the channel died I worked hard to get all the videos back up. Then make new videos. Working that hard for that long took it's toll on me.

Which isn't to say I've been doing nothing. Some of you may know that I also am a writer so I was working on my books. I in fact have a novella coming out in May and a novel in August! Also Elden Ring, which has been a comfortable escape from all the bullshit. Because life has still been happening to me. I still have a retail job which I loathe with a boss that gives me shit for calling out when sick and says I should plan to have that stuff happen on my days off and laughs at me when I don't know something never taught to me.

But one of the biggest components of not working has been my computer. This computer I have had for 4 years or so now and it's starting to show it's age. It wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed when I bought it, and now it struggles. Mainly with editing, which is the most important factor. I will often spend hours trying to edit a single one minute section of a video because it keeps crashing or stalling.

When I would live stream it was barely able to handle streaming the footage/running the game. Which is a big reason I stopped doing it.

So I bought a new computer! I worked overtime a lot of my retail job, cashed out the Patreon money, and used my tax return to buy a really nice desktop.

This computer is going to be JUST for gaming and editing. I will keep my current PC because it still works just fine. I will do all my admin/writing/video watching/uploading/video capturing on the old computer. This way processing power is divided between two devices and both won't be overworked.

My goal is that having a computer to edit will mean that more power/space will be available to it so I can edit faster. Projects won't crash nearly as often and life will be smoother. I won't get Chrome on it because that thing eats power. And I will use my capture device to record gameplay on this new computer and record it with the old computer so that one isn't doing both and killing it.

I am honestly super excited and I hope that this will help not only the workflow but my desire to work on stuff.

It's hard to want to edit JP when I know I'm going to fight with it for 3 out of the 4 hours I have to edit in an afternoon before I need to sleep and go to work.

Once my backlog is filled back up again, I can assure you all that I will go back to 3 videos a week.

But in some good news I have been recording a bit! I have a new system set up so I can record game console stuff from my couch. Some friends and I have been playing old Xbox game and recording videos. Non-lewd, of course. So I am incredibly excited to have those come out!

All in all, I am trying to recover from burnout, but I think the excitement of a new/better computer to work with will reinvigorate me.

Thank you all so much and

Stay Jawesome Out There!
